'Defence Transition Services' (DTS) was established at the same time, to support those Service leavers who face the greatest challenges to making a successful transition to civilian life. The full-spectrum service is available to all Service leavers exiting the Armed Forces and is based on the needs of the individual, providing the specific support they may need and interventions to ensure issues are resolved. This support extends for two years after discharge and longer if necessary.

All Regular Service personnel leaving the Armed Forces are provided with employment support and training delivered through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP). Service personnel leaving the Regular Armed Forces are entitled to access CTP resettlement services two years prior to their discharge date and for two years post-discharge.

star this property answer text
The Government, local authorities, the wider public sector, charities, commercial organisations and civil society all have a role in supporting the Armed Forces community. While this includes support to veterans in the areas of employment, healthcare, housing, education, and financial advice, it is also about recognising how Government can make a positive difference for those in the front line of our nation's Defence. Whilst the Ministry of Defence gave statutory foundation to the Armed Forces Covenant in the 2011 Armed Forces Act, with a requirement on the Defence Secretary to report annually to Parliament, this Government has recognized more must be done to ensure the Armed Forces community suffer no disadvantage. We have therefore committed to the creation of a legal duty to have due regard to the Armed Forces Covenant and are further enshrining it in law to support this.
more like this

star this property answer text
To make life easier for Armed Forces families balancing the competing demands of Service with home life, the Government has committed to providing funding for wrap-around childcare. Wrap-around care includes breakfast and after school clubs; these facilities provide modern dual-working families with the flexibility they need to manage their careers alongside homelife. Discussions are underway to consider the most efficient means of providing funding to families of children between the ages of four and 11 and to confirm timescales for implementation. In parallel to these discussions I am setting up a dedicated childcare team with immediate effect, to help families by working with military establishments to demonstrate need and encourage local authorities to build capacity.
more like this

I am satisfied that the interests of members of the Armed Forces as employees are suitably represented by the Chain of Command, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), the Royal Naval Association, the Royal Air Force Association, the Veterans Association and a great many more Regimental Associations and groups around the country. Many of these associations also represent the veterans' community. Along with the various Service-facing charities, the above-mentioned associations will all have regular access to the Chain of Command and Ministers to represent their members' interests.
more like this

Specific to SLA, a Four Tier Grading system also measures accommodation against additional internal criteria. The combined results provide a more accurate assessment of the overall condition of the SLA.

The overall condition of the UK SLA estate is currently assessed as 'Fair' indicating that a proportion of the estate will require minor repairs and some infrequent larger repairs within three to five years.
