star this property answer text <p>While the Visa Application Centres (VACs) in Kyiv and Lviv have had to close in response to the conflict, the Home Office has surged capacity to other countries, including Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic and Moldova. We have also established a new pop-up VAC in Rzeszow, Poland.</p><p>Since Tuesday 15 March, Ukrainians with passports no longer need to go to a Visa Application Centre to give their biometrics before they come to the UK.</p><p>The Home Secretary’s statement of 10 March sets out the latest update for the Ukrainian Family Scheme. star this property answer text <p>Our aim is to process all applications for leave to remain and indefinite leave to remain within our service level agreement (SLA). Each individual case is considered on its own merit, which means some cases will inevitably take longer than others to conclude. star this property answer text <p>UK Visas and Immigration have received thousands of applications for the Ukraine Family Scheme and Homes for Ukraine Scheme. UKVI are processing the paperwork as quickly as possible, and additional caseworkers have been brought in to manage this demand. UKVI staff are carrying out vital security checks for each application, and these checks are important to keep people safe in the UK, and protect people making journeys from Ukraine</p><p><br> Applications are normally processed in date order from when documents were uploaded, or after an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC). We are working seven days a week to process applications, and where we have applications from family groups we would look to group these decisions together so families receive decisions wherever possible at the same time.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Points Based System already provides for a range of roles in the food and drink sector, including roles such as Butchers, subject to the rules and requirements of the system being met, including on salary.</p><p>Beyond the Points Based Systems, employers can recruit those with general work rights including the millions of people who have been granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme, those who have arrived via our settlement route for British National (Overseas) normally resident in Hong Kong and their households, those who have arrived via a family visa and those in the UK under our Youth Mobility Schemes. They have full access to the UK labour market and are free to work in the UK and can undertake any role.</p><p>But recognising the extraordinary circumstances facing businesses currently, Government is providing visas as a time-limited, temporary measure for the food sector until longer term measures to improve the supply of skills domestically. start to have an impact. This includes visas for up to:</p><p>• 4,700 HGV food drivers who will be able to arrive from late October and leave by 28 February 2022 and;</p><p>• 5,500 poultry workers will arrive from late October and stay up until 31 December 2021.</p><p>However we must see long-term solutions delivered by employers through improved testing and hiring, with better pay and working conditions, as immigration routes do not provide a guarantee of being able to recruit in a competitive global market for skilled workers.</p>

Between March and May 2022 approximately 98.5% of UK applications processed were completed within ten weeks.</p><p>Urgent services are only required where an applicant needs a passport sooner than ten weeks. For the small percentage of customers whose applications take longer than ten weeks, there is an expedited service at no additional cost to help ensure that they receive their passport ahead of their travel.</p> more like this

The route allows both immediate family (spouse, civil partner, durable partner, minor children) and extended family (parent, grandparent, adult children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and their immediate family) to join qualifying family members in the UK. star this property answer text <p>Those eligible for the Ukraine family scheme should ensure they obtain the correct permission to come to the UK. Those eligible for the scheme who hold a valid Ukrainian Passport no longer need to go to a Visa Application Centre and can apply online, they will be able to give their biometrics once they have arrived in the UK.</p><p>Carriers’ liability legislation will apply as normal and guidance for carriers on discharging their obligations will be updated as necessary.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office regularly receive representations from Greater Manchester child and migrants’ rights organisations on children seeking asylum in the UK.</p><p>The department most recently received a courtesy copy of an open letter dated 16 December 2021, from the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit (GMIAU) in which 25 child and migrant rights organisations wrote to us and we replied to this on the 20 January 2022.</p><p>The department maintains a working relationship with GMIAU and other regional organisations through our strategic partnerships; including the Strategic Engagement Group (SEG) and National Asylum Stakeholder Forum (NASF), who continue to work collaboratively to ensure asylum claims from children and young people remains one of our top priorities.</p><p>The Home Office have established two dedicated case working Hubs for deciding children’s asylum claims which are now fully operational. The hubs have established improved focus on and greater control of children’s cases to build expertise, identify efficiencies and provide a consistency of decision making (and quicker outcomes) for our customers.</p><p>We continue to work collaboratively with Local Authorities nationally on the remote interview process for Accompanied and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and young people utilising digital interviewing video capabilities to complement in person interviews.</p><p>Since May 2021 we have increased Local Authority opt in for digital interviewing to 108 Local Authorities helping to speed up processes, reduce delays and the numbers of children and young people who have an outstanding claim.</p><p> </p><p>We are continuing to recruit additional decision-makers who will be trained to process children’s asylum claims to further reduce the number outstanding.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office already allows asylum seekers the right to work in the UK if their claim has been outstanding for 12 months or more, through no fault of their own. Those permitted to work are restricted to jobs on the Shortage Occupation List, which is based on expert advice from the independent Migration Advisory Committee.</p><p> </p><p>Being able to acquire a right to work simply by making an asylum claim would act as a significant incentive to lodge unmeritorious claims. Our policy is intended to deter people from undercutting the resident labour market and supports wider changes to fix the broken asylum system.</p> more like this
