star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">It is important that the police and local agencies have the powers they need to tackle local issues quickly and effectively. That is why we reformed the tools and powers available to tackle Anti-Social behaviour through the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.</del><del class="ministerial">In 2019/20 Lancashire Police are receiving £285.1 million of funding, an increase of £18.4 million, on 2018/19. Funding for 2020-21 for individual forces will be announced as part of the provisional police settlement later this year. Decisions about the allocation of police resources are for Chief Constables and democratically accountable Police and Crime Commissioners, who are best placed to meet the needs of their local community.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The police and Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) are responsible for charging decisions with regards to county lines related criminality. The key is that prosecutions are brought, and the charges should cover the full range of criminality involved including Modern Slavery offences.We are working with the police and the CPS to take full advantage of powers in the Modern Slavery Act when making charging decisions against county line gang members. The CPS have issued an overview of the approach to be taken in criminal investigations and prosecutions linked to ‘county lines’ offending, with a particular focus on the relevance of the Modern Slavery Act.</ins></p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">As part of the Government’s response to the 2016 Home Affairs Select Committee report into prostitution, the Home Office provided £150,000 to fund research specifically into the nature and prevalence of prostitution in England and Wales.</del><del class="ministerial">This independent research was led by the University of Bristol and will enable us to inform an objective evidence base before we can consider any changes to policy and legislation in respect of prostitution.</del><del class="ministerial">The report was published on 30 October and is available at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nature-of-prostitution-and-sex-work-in-england-and-wales" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nature-of-prostitution-and-sex-work-in-england-and-wales</a>.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The response for UIN 2871 was answered on 4th November 2019.</ins></p> more like this

Member in the time available before Dissolution.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government recognises that disabled people are likely to face greater costs when seeking elected office due to their disability. That is why we launched the EnAble Fund for Elected Office to help cover disability related expenses. As an interim fund it gave political parties the time to put in place measures to support disabled candidates.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> The Fund is time limited and was put in place for elections that had been planned. Therefore, funding has not been scheduled for this election. Retrospective support, as with this year’s European Parliamentary Elections, could be considered for candidates but this would be for the next Government to decide.</ins></p> more like this

Mermaids were allocated funding through the LGBT Consortium on the Anti-homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying programme 2016-2019 and this funding ceased at the end of the programme in March 2019. A separate extension to this programme was retendered from January 2019 to March 2020 and Mermaids did not receive any funding through this process.</p> more like this

Friend for Portsmouth North, told the Women and Equalities Select Committee in December 2018 she had commissioned a programme to enable the Equalities Office to better engage with women’s organisations.This was a programme of work and not a formal review of engagement. The programme is reaching organisations across the country and includes a City Listening project in Bristol, Leicester and Leeds where forums are being held for women to make their voices better heard by policy makers.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Political parties are responsible for greater diversity amongst their candidates.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is working with them to better support their disabled candidates. Whilst this is ongoing we launched the £250,000 interim EnAble Fund. The fund supported around 40 disabled candidates in the local elections in May. We have commissioned an independent evaluation, which will include assessments of average grants made and will be published after the Fund has closed next year.</p><p>The Centenary Fund supported nearly 320 projects including events encouraging nearly 800 women to stand for election, creating a pipeline of talent ready to enter public life.</p> more like this
