	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/03/2020 answer text <p>Highways England Inspectors travel the network to carry out weekly safety inspections of the A1. They last inspected the section through Rutland on 25 February 2020 and some carriageway defects were identified.</p><p> </p><p>Any safety critical defects identified are reported with the appropriate instruction to mitigate any immediate safety issues. Permanent repairs are then carried out within a timescale appropriate to the severity and impact of the defect, frequently within 28 days.</p><p> </p><p>The A1 is being considered for future renewal schemes as Highways England develops its forward programme of works for the second Road Investment Strategy (RIS2) period, covering the years 2020 to 2025.</p><p> </p><p>We expect RIS2 to be published before the start of the second Road Period on 1 April 2020. During these planned works, further structural repairs were found to be necessary which led to the closure of the bridge.</p><p> </p><p>I understand how busy this stretch of the A52 is and Highways England did not take the decision to close the bridge lightly. The Department is working with Highways England to make sure everything possible is being done to resolve the situation and get traffic moving across the Clifton bridge as quickly and as safely as possible. One lane has already re-opened.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England is working closely with local authorities to ensure there are no restrictions on the diversion routes.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England invited all Local Resilience Forums (LRF), Nottingham City and County, to attend a briefing on the timings / stages necessary to safely restore the bridge capacity to normal.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England also meets weekly with local authorities and the emergency services to discuss mitigation measures, share progress, and plan works.</p><p> </p><p>Restrictions will be in place for some time until permanent repairs are completed. Since 2016, changes in severity reporting systems for a large number of police forces (including for Humberside police force which covers the geographic area required) mean that serious injury figures, and to a lesser extent slight injuries, as reported by the police are not comparable with earlier years. Adjustments to account for the change have been produced for high level series in the Reported Road Casualties in Great Britain, annual report: 2018.</p><p> </p><p>Injury descriptions are available from the CRASH system only since January 2016 for Humberside police force. The most severe injury description as reported by the police for seriously injured casualties on the A63 between the Ferensway Interchange (Central Hull) and North Cave Interchange between 2016 and 2018 can be found in the attached Table A. Please note that this information is as reported by the police and is not the result of a medical assessment.</p><p> </p><p>The eastings and northings of each accident for the requested geographical area can be found in the attached Table B. Similarly, UK companies will be treated largely as third country companies for accounting and audit purposes. EEA auditors and EEA companies in the UK will also be treated as third country auditors and third country companies in the UK under changes that will be made effective in part through amendments to UK legislation. However, the UK Government has put in place a framework that will allow some continuing market access for EEA auditors to the UK for a limited period in order to provide continuity for businesses in the period following the UK’s exit.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s technical notice on accounting and audit if there is no Brexit deal sets out the implications of No Deal for businesses operating across the EU/UK border.
