star this property answer text The purpose of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is to support people who would otherwise have been made redundant. Furloughed employees cannot work for their employer and must remain on furlough for a minimum of three weeks. This is consistent with public health guidance seeking to minimise the number of people outside their homes on a regular basis.<p> </p><p>This scheme supplements the other significant support announced for UK businesses, including the Bounce Back Loans Scheme for small businesses, the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, and the deferral of tax payments. star this property answer text <p>1.5 million Self Assessment taxpayers took advantage of the opportunity to defer their July 2020 payment on account. It is not possible to specify how many of these were (a) self-employed people, (b) freelancers and (c) sole directors of small limited companies.</p><p> </p><p>The Chancellor and HMRC understand that many Self-Assessment taxpayers who deferred their July 2020 Payment on Account may have difficulty in paying their Self-Assessment payments becoming due on 31 January 2021.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC have enhanced their automated online Time to Pay service, enabling taxpayers to clear their January 2021 Self-Assessment liabilities in up to 12 monthly instalments, without the taxpayer needing to contact HMRC directly to set up their payment plan.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>95% of Import Frontier Declarations and 99% of Export Declarations receive clearance from customs in 10 minutes. The 10 minutes relate to a trade facilitation time agreed by HMRC to enable traders to be able to amend their declarations within this 10-minute period, before clearance is granted.</p><p>The remaining 5% for Imports and 1% for Exports are accounted for by Declarations that are held in order to perform Documentary or Physical Controls on the goods or to deal with other matters such as the collection of revenue.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>97% of payments in respect of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) have been made within 6 working days.</p><p> </p><p>There are several reasons why a payment could have been delayed, including mistakes made by the user when completing the claim, or the need for HMRC to conduct additional fraud checks before payment is made.</p><p> </p><p>Where delays in payment have been identified, HMRC have worked quickly to establish the cause and ensure that any issues are resolved quickly.</p><p> </p> more like this
