No assessment has been made. There is, at present, no single, established dataset
that can be used to monitor the number of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) diagnoses nationally.

Data from the Mental Health of Children and Young
People in England, 2017 reported that about one in sixty (1.6%) of five- to 19-year-olds
were identified as having a hyperactivity disorder. This was an estimate based on
a sample. If all children in the population had participated, it is likely that the
proportion identified with a hyperactivity disorder would have been between 1.4% and
1.9%.

In a recent Westminster Hall debate, 1 February 2023, I committed to look
at how we can improve data on ADHD assessment waiting times, to help improve access
to ADHD assessments in a timely way and in line with the National Institute for Health
and Care Excellence guideline.
