star this property answer text <p>The UK continues to encourage developed countries to increase their climate finance commitments for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries through the UK's G7 and COP26 Presidencies. At the COP President Designate’s request, Germany and Canada are leading the development of a $100 billion Delivery Plan. This will demonstrate, in advance of COP26, how developed countries will mobilise $100 billion a year through to 2025. President Biden has made a major step towards achieving the $100 billion goal, announcing recently at the UN General Assembly that the US is doubling their climate finance to $11.4 billion in 2024.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The agreement at COP26 made significant progress on adaptation, including the immediate launch of the Glasgow-Sharm el Sheikh work programme to deliver on the Global Goal on Adaptation. This is a significant step forward which will deliver action to reduce vulnerability, strengthen resilience and increase the capacity of people and the planet to adapt to the impacts of climate change.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Developed countries also agreed to at least double their collective provision of climate finance for adaptation to developing countries by 2025. Under our Presidency year we will work with Parties to make progress on both of these areas.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At COP26, Parties recognised loss and damage is already impacting lives and livelihoods and agreed to scale-up support. The Glasgow Dialogue was established to discuss the arrangements for the funding of activities to avert, minimise and address loss and damage.</p><p>In June 2022, at the Bonn Intersessional meeting, the Glasgow Dialogue on loss and damage was launched to discuss the funding arrangements for addressing loss and damage. There will be further dialogues taking place every year to 2024, though these are not formal negotiations.This will continue to be a critical forum to discuss practical ways finance can be scaled up and effectively delivered. I regularly discuss Loss and Damage with international counterparts, including non-governmental organisations and the private sector.</p><p>The UK is committed to deliver on the Glasgow Climate Pact working with Parties and Civil Society organisations to advance progress through the Glasgow Dialogue and operationalising the Santiago Network.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>I have regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues, including the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, to help promote the UK's clean energy transition. I have met with companies in the renewable energy industry in Scotland to explore how they can support a successful COP26. The Government has a long history of supporting the development and deployment of wave and tidal stream technologies in the UK, including in Scotland. Since 2003 various bodies across Government have provided innovation/R&amp;D funding of £175m to the wave and tidal sectors (almost £80m since 2010).</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At COP26, the UK Presidency secured an agreement on the rules, guidance and procedures to implement Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which gives guidance on how countries may choose to cooperate and use carbon markets to help achieve their climate objectives. Other carbon pricing mechanisms, such as carbon taxes, or carbon border adjustment mechanisms were not an agenda item at COP26.</p><p>This year the UK launched its own emissions trading scheme (ETS) and will be exploring opportunities for international cooperation. This could include the possibility of linking the UK ETS to similar systems in other countries.</p><p> </p> more like this
