	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2019 answer text It is the Government’s aspiration to see diversity across the UK economy, and HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter reflects our ambition to see an improved gender balance in the financial services industry. So far, over 330 financial services firms have signed the Charter, committing to implement strategic actions to improve their gender balance in senior positions.<p> </p>Regarding wider work to improve diversity in the UK labour market, we are supporting the government commissioned Hampton-Alexander review to push for 33% of all board and senior leadership positions to be held by women by 2020 in the FTSE 350. Government also fully supports the Parker Review, which recommends that FTSE100 and 250 boards should have at least one director of colour by 2021 and 2024, respectively. The Prime Minister also launched the Race at Work Charter and a consultation on mandatory ethnicity pay reporting as part of a package of measures to make the workplace fairer for people from ethnic minority groups. Over 150 employers have signed the Race at Work Charter, including a number of financial services firms.<p> </p>Equal pay for men and women doing the same work, equivalent work or work of equal value, has been a legal requirement since 1970. The Government remains fully committed to the Equal Pay protections in the Equality Act 2010.<p> </p>In 2017, the Government introduced regulations requiring large employers across all sectors, including financial services, to publish the differences in what they pay their male and female staff in average salaries and bonuses annually. The gender pay gap is caused by many factors and does not necessarily mean an employer has breached equal pay laws. As part of the work on this issue, we have invested £22m per annum until the end of the current contracts with Community Rehabilitation Companies so they can provide a specified enhanced Through The Gate (TTG) service in all 86 resettlement prisons in England and Wales. However, offenders still face a number of barriers in accessing accommodation, including the availability of local authority housing, affordability of the private-rented sector and the knowledge and expertise required to navigate housing services. <br> Addressing these barriers is not something the Ministry of Justice can do in isolation; we are developing an HMPPS strategy for accommodation that will clearly set out our responsibilities, our partners’ responsibilities and a framework for how we can build on our successes and work together to ensure that offenders are able to access and maintain settled accommodation. We are also working collaboratively with the Welsh Government and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to identify ways of breaking down these barriers and to ensure that every person leaving prison has somewhere to go. As part of this, we are investing up to £6.4 million over two years in a pilot scheme to help ex-offenders into accommodation from three prisons, namely Bristol, Pentonville and Leeds. This pilot will offer support to prisoners on short sentences who have been identified as being at risk of homelessness. We await the results of the independent forensic report ordered by the Egyptian Prosecutor General into the causes and circumstances of former President Morsi's death.</p><p>Egypt is a human rights priority country for the UK, and we monitor the situation closely. We continue to voice our concerns, including in our recent statement at the UN Human Rights Council on 12 March and in our Human Rights Report, released on 5 June. In particular, prison conditions are one of our three human rights priorities in Egypt. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2019 answer text <p>When deciding whether to certify an extradition request, the Secretary of State follows the following criteria as set out in Section 70 of the 2003 Extradition Act: -</p><p>(1) The Secretary of State must issue a certificate under this section if he receives a valid request for the extradition to a category 2 territory of a person who is in the United Kingdom.</p><p>(2) But subsection (1) does not apply if the Secretary of State decides under section 126 that the request is not to be proceeded with.</p><p>(3) A request for a person’s extradition is valid if— <br>(a) it contains the statement referred to in subsection (4), and <br>(b) it is made in the approved way.</p><p>(4) The statement is one that the person— <br>(a) is accused in the category 2 territory of the commission of an offence specified in the request, or <br>(b) is alleged to be unlawfully at large after conviction by a court in the cate-gory 2 territory of an offence specified in the request.</p><p>(5) A request for extradition to a category 2 territory which is a British over-seas territory is made in the approved way if it is made by or on behalf of the person administering the territory.</p><p>(6) A request for extradition to a category 2 territory which is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China is made in the approved way if it is made by or on behalf of the government of the Re-gion.</p><p>(7) A request for extradition to any other category 2 territory is made in the ap-proved way if it is made— <br>(a) by an authority of the territory which the Secretary of State believes has the function of making requests for extradition in that territory, or <br>(b) by a person recognised by the Secretary of State as a diplomatic or consu-lar representative of the territory.</p><p>(8) A certificate under this section must certify that the request is made in the approved way.</p><p>(9) If a certificate is issued under this section the Secretary of State must send these documents to the appropriate judge— <br>(a) the request; <br>(b) the certificate; <br>(c) a copy of any relevant Order in Council.</p> answering member constituency Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner answering member printed Mr Nick Hurd question first answered 24/06/2019 15:44:20 answering member 1561 label Biography information for Mr Nick Hurd
