star this property answer text <p>In line with the requirements of section 2.1.6 of the Civil Service Management Code and in order to enable HMRC to monitor the effectiveness of policies and action plans, as required, HMRC collects aggregated and anonymised data on core characteristics of its workforce in line with the requirements of section 2.1.6 of the Civil Service Management Code including additional requirements for workforce in Northern Ireland.</p><p>HMRC uses this data to monitor its workforce and produce Equality Impact Assessments that supporting the department to understand the effect of its core employment policies and decisions. This is in line with the requirements under ‘Monitoring’ in that section of the Civil Service Management Code.</p><p> </p><p>Monitoring data is shared with Trade Unions in line with the statutory requirements.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC Employee Relations Agreement, that was co-created with their recognised trade unions, states the following <em>“HMRC, ARC and PCS will always aim to share information at the earliest opportunity to support effective engagement. HMRC, ARC and PCS may also need to ask for additional information to support discussions&quot;</em></p>

High-factor sunscreen is on the NHS prescription list for certain conditions and therefore is provided VAT free when dispensed by a pharmacist.</p><p> </p><p>While we keep all taxes under review there are no plans to make changes. Representations on changes to the VAT system will be considered through the normal fiscal event process.</p> more like this

This means that since 2017, most HMRC colleagues who earn overtime and similar payments regularly in line with our guidance have received the additional payment due when they take their statutory annual leave.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC has not determined that there are other implications of the ruling.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>VAT rules do not distinguish between supplies on the basis of whether they might be considered essential. VAT is a broad-based tax on consumption, and the twenty per cent standard rate applies across a very broad range of goods and services. While there are exceptions to the standard rate, these are strictly limited by legal and fiscal considerations. One such exception is that medicines on the NHS prescription list are zero-rated for VAT when dispensed by a pharmacist.</p><p> </p><p>Removing or reducing VAT on a broad range of healthcare products would likely come at a significant cost to the Exchequer, and with no guarantee that it would reduce the cost to consumers of the products themselves. While all taxes are kept under review, the Government has no current plans to make changes here.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HMRC has already made the necessary reforms in line with the legal ruling Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council v Willetts and Others 2017, where regular voluntary overtime and similar payments are now included in the daily rate of pay for statutory holidays taken each year.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC has paid holiday pay arrears to qualifying current and former employees for the period 1 April 2017 to 31 August 2021.</p><p> </p><p>Holiday payments due from 1 September 2021 have been paid to employees in real time by HMRC’s new automated pay system.</p> more like this
