	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2019 answer text <p>Data for the numbers of assaults and serious assaults in each prison, broken down by type of weapon and type of injury, is set out in the attached tables. The figures are presented by calendar year rather than by quarter. This is because analysis at the level of detail requested produces many results of 5 or fewer. Disclosure-proofing to reduce the risk of identification, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, requires such low numbers to be suppressed. Even at the annual level, some such values have had to be suppressed.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is taking unprecedented action to improve safety in prisons. We have recruited over 4,700 more prison officers since October 2016, and we now have the greatest number in post since early 2012. The Challenge, Support and Intervention Plan case management process for prisoners at risk of violence has been mandated for all prisons to help staff to manage violent prisoners and those identified as posing a raised risk of being violent.</p><p> </p><p>We are investing an extra £70 million to improve safety, security and decency, and equipping officers with PAVA incapacitant spray and body-worn cameras to help prevent serious harm to staff and prisoners when dealing with violent incidents. The strategy launched an ambitious programme of work which will take several years to deliver. So far, we have published a new Women’s Policy Framework, Lord Farmer’s Review for Women and invested £5m to support community provision for female offenders and women at risk of offending</p><p>We are committed to monitoring progress over time and taking action to deliver the outcomes we set out to achieve. 	question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the report by Every Child Protected Against Trafficking UK, Anti-Slavery International and the Pacific Links Foundation, Precarious Journeys: Mapping vulnerabilities of victims of trafficking from Vietnam to Europe, published 7 March, in particular its finding (1) that 1,127 Vietnamese children were arrested in the UK between 2012 and 2018, mostly for immigration and drug offences, despite the known risks of trafficking amongst this group, (2) in regard to the Government's identification and protection of Vietnamese victims and potential victims of trafficking, and (3) that rigid policies to control immigration and growing anti-immigration rhetoric throughout Europe and in the UK exacerbate the vulnerability of Vietnamese adults and children to trafficking and exploitation.

The report contributes to the evidence base on modern slavery and we are taking the recommendations into consideration.</p><p>The decision to arrest is ultimately an operational decision; to support this decision making, the Government has invested in police training and awareness as part of the £11.6m Modern Slavery Police Transformation Programme investment so that officers are aware of the signs and indicators of victims encountered in the course of police duties, even if this is in relation to enforcement of drug legislation, for example. We are working across government to develop a new strategy for English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) in 2019. This strategy will provide a shared vision for all publicly funded English language provision, including addressing the needs of refugees.</p><p>The department funds ESOL through the Adult Education Budget (AEB), which is allocated to providers on an annual basis. Colleges and adult learning providers have the freedom and flexibility to determine how they use their AEB allocation to meet the needs of their communities. This includes planning, with local partners, the ESOL courses that they will deliver locally. The number of cases refused for being submitted out with the time limit was 1252.</p><p> </p><p>The figures published in the annual reports and accounts show the number of times each rejection reason was used. For some applications there will have been more than one reason for rejection.
