On 14 November, the UK sanctioned 24 individuals for violations of human rights in the repression of protests. This was on top of the sanctions of 10 October against the so-called 'morality police' and seven security officials. The UK is also working with international partners to hold Iran to account for its violent response to the protests. The UK also committed up to £150 million to support Syrians at the Brussels Pledging Conference in June 2023. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government is keen that the welfare needs of racehorses are well met, both during their racing lives and afterwards. The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is responsible for the safety of racehorses at British racecourses and the BHA works alongside the RSPCA and World Horse Welfare to make horseracing as safe as possible.</p><p> </p><p>In relation to starting stalls, the incidence of stalls fatalities is low. In 2018 there was one stalls fatality over the course of 6,591 flat races. In addition the BHA Starting Team discuss any incident which occurs in the stalls with Veterinary Officers and staff handlers to improve safety.</p><p> </p><p>However, both I and the BHA consider that more can be done to make horseracing safer in general which is why I have been holding regular discussions with the BHA about this. Most recently on the 14 May, I met with the BHA as well as the new independent Chair of the BHA’s newly appointed Horse Welfare Board. This was a constructive meeting where the number of fatalities of racehorses was acknowledged and both sides agreed that further action is required to tackle avoidable harm and make the sport safer.</p><p> </p><p>The Board committed to doing all it can to improve welfare outcomes. Universal Credit pays up to 85% of childcare costs regardless of the hours worked, compared to 70% in legacy benefits and can be claimed up to a month before starting a job. In cases where people need to pay for childcare upfront prior to starting work, Work Coaches can use the Flexible Support Fund for eligible claimants to meet these costs until their first wage is received.</p><p> </p><p>All three and four year olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare each week, providing children with high-quality early education and helping parents to return to work.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, 30 hours free childcare was introduced in England in September 2017 and is an entitlement for working parents of three and four year olds. Universal Credit has provided a vital safety net for six million people during the pandemic, and the temporary uplift was part of a COVID support package worth a total of £407 billion in 2020-21 and 2021-22.</p><p> </p><p>There have been significant positive developments in the public health situation since the uplift was first introduced. With the success of the vaccine rollout and record job vacancies, it is right that our focus is on helping people back into work.</p><p> </p><p>Through our Plan for Jobs, we are targeting tailored support schemes of people of all ages to help them prepare for, get into and progress in work. These include: Kickstart, delivering tens of thousands of six-month work placements for Universal Credit claimants aged 16-24 at risk of unemployment; Restart, which provides 12 months’ intensive employment support to Universal Credit claimants who are unemployed for a year; and JETS, which provides light touch employment support for people who are claiming either Universal Credit or New Style Jobseekers Allowance, for up to 6 months, helping participants effectively re-engage with the labour market and focus their job search. We have also recruited an additional 13,500 work coaches to provide more intensive support to find a job. We are investing up to £220m in the Holiday Activities and Food programme, which has been expanded to every Local Authority across England. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/09/2021 answer text <p>Throughout the pandemic, DWP has engaged regularly with MHCLG.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has provided an unprecedented package of financial support to tenants and we have boosted the welfare safety net with billions of pounds.</p><p> </p><p>As a result, the vast majority (91%) of private renters are up to date with their rent and of those in arrears, two thirds are in arrears of less than 2 months.</p><p> </p><p>To support the most vulnerable renters, we have invested nearly £1 billion in raising Local Housing Allowance rates to the 30th percentile of local rents in April 2020. We have maintained LHA rates at their increased level in cash terms for 2021/22.</p><p> </p><p>Housing support can be paid to landlords for claimants who cannot manage their Universal Credit payment, through Managed Payment to Landlord. This helps protect these claimants against further rent arrears.</p><p> </p><p>Discretionary Housing Payments also provide critical support to claimants who need help with their housing costs. This means that the annual earnings of a full-time worker on the National Living Wage have increased by around £4,000 since this policy was announced in 2015.
