	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2019 answer text <p>The UK Government is committed to ensuring that UK and EU researchers, universities and businesses in the steel sector will be able to continue to collaborate after the UK leaves the European Union.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s priority remains ensuring the Withdrawal Agreement (WA) is ratified. This would ensure that UK entities’ right to participate in the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) would be unaffected by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU until the end of 2020: the WA envisages that UK participants will be eligible to bid for RFCS funding until that date.</p><p> </p><p>In the event the UK leaves the EU without an overall withdrawal agreement, the Government will guarantee the payment of awards for UK organisations which successfully bid directly to EU programmes, including RFCS, until the end of 2020, for the whole lifetime of projects agreed.</p><p> </p><p>Beyond 2020, the UK government is considering options for supporting R&amp;D in steel and will continue to work with the sector, unions and Devolved Administrations to develop a long-term viable solution for the UK steel industry.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will decide on science and innovation expenditure, including on R&amp;D for steel, in the next Spending Review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/06/2019 answer text <p>Strategic procurement of infrastructure which supports UK supply chains, skills and exports is a key part of the Government’s modern Industrial Strategy, and through the Rail Sector Deal we are working with industry to promote procurement practices that support an innovative, highly-skilled, and productive British rail supply chain.</p><p> </p><p>These improved practices may include more effective use by both public and private sector organisations of early contractor engagement, simplified tendering processes, and procurement balanced scorecards examining whole-life costs and benefits.</p><p> </p><p>The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is currently taking forward work on this element of the sector deal on behalf of the rail industry. This will require ambitious action across the economy building on our Clean Growth Strategy. Whether it is through our global offshore wind industry, our leadership on green finance, or our unrivalled research base leading the charge on electric vehicles, we are showing the economic benefits of how cutting emissions can help to grow our economy.</p><p> </p><p>In the power sector, this will mean significant expansion in low carbon electricity generation, with important roles for renewables, carbon capture usage and storage, and nuclear power. We are already taking action to deliver this through the offshore wind sector deal, a commitment to bi-annual allocation of Contracts for Difference for renewable electricity generation with the third allocation round launched on 29 May, the nuclear sector deal, our review of the viability of a Regulated Asset Base (RAB) funding model for new nuclear power stations, and the CCUS action plan.
