	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2019 answer text <p>The UK is leading efforts to strengthen peace and stability in Yemen and fully supports the work of UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths towards achieving a negotiated and durable peace settlement.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to support conflict management and peacebuilding in Yemen. Through the UK’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund, we provided £1.04 million towards conflict management and peacebuilding in 2016, £1.04 million in 2017, £2.95 million in 2018, and have a proposed budget of £2.83 million for 2019.</p><p> </p><p>DFID is also funding activities focussed on strengthening local peacebuilding and improving the role of women in peacebuilding in Yemen. This includes emphasising the importance of providing security, stabilising the economy, and delivering basic services. We will continue to work closely with all parties to support Yemen’s recovery following any political settlement.</p><p> </p><p>We are also continuing our work to protect key institutions that will be critical to Yemen’s future development. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2019 answer text <p>The UK continues to encourage the Government of Yemen to reduce the risk of inflation by not printing new money and has worked with the Central Bank of Yemen to release over $500 million of hard currency, provided by Saudi Arabia, to support importers bringing in food staples. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2019 answer text <p>Through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) we are supporting those who have been injured by violent incidents through physical rehabilitation centres, as well as those who have been displaced from their homes with food, health care, psychosocial support and legal assistance.</p><p> </p><p>We routinely pre-position supplies through our partners including World Food Programme and UNICEF, as well as through the UN Rapid Response Mechanism where it is judged conflict might affect populations. The UN’s 2019 humanitarian appeal for Yemen is the largest in the world at $4.2 billion. The Geneva Pledging Conference in February of this year saw $2.6 billion pledged, approximately 20% of which has been disbursed to date.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is actively engaging with other large donors to encourage the rapid disbursement of funding to the UN to enable it to cover urgent needs.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has also brought forward funding and we will have disbursed over half of our £200 million pledge for this financial year (2019/2020) by the beginning of June. This included funds for UNICEF to respond rapidly to a spike in cholera. This was the third largest amount pledged at the UN 2019 Yemen Pledging conference and brings the total UK commitment to Yemen to £770 million since the conflict began in 2015.</p><p> </p><p>We are encouraging other large donors to disburse promptly and are confident that if this happens the UN and NGOs will be able to deliver a strong humanitarian response. The Geneva Pledging Conference in February of this year saw $2.6 billion pledged, approximately 20% of which has been disbursed to date.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has brought forward funding to cover urgent UN funding gaps and will have disbursed over half of our £200 million funding by the beginning of June. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/05/2019 answer text <p>The UK supports a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and the UK Government believe that the only way to achieve a lasting solution for refugees is a negotiated solution to the conflict.</p><p> </p><p>In the interim, the UK is a leading donor to UNRWA and will provide up to £80m over the next two years. This will help to provide essential services, including healthcare and education, for millions of Palestinian refugees living in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has also acted to ensure the long-term sustainability of the UN system in general by supporting the Secretary General’s reform agenda, including the Funding Compact which is being discussed at ECOSOC in New York in late May.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is committed to getting the best value for the UK taxpayers’ money in our aid programmes.
