For example, in the period between 2013/14 and 2017/18, there was an increase of over 26% in rape flagged pre-charge decisions referred to CPS West Midlands. Rape and serious sexual offences investigations can be highly complex in nature and typically involve the review of a large quantity of evidence resulting in an increase in the amount of time required for the CPS to come to a charging decision.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Businesses, including the surface engineering sector, have already benefitted from the Energy Bill Relief Scheme which ended on 31 March 2023 and provided £7 billion of support. Businesses will continue to get a discount on gas and electricity bills under the Energy Bills Discount Scheme (EBDS), until 31 March 2024.</p><p>Under the EBDS, non-domestic customers who have a contract with a licensed energy supplier will see a baseline discount of up to £6.97/MWh automatically applied to their gas bill and up to £19.61/MWh to their electricity bill.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 27 June, the Government set a legally binding target to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide, from across the UK economy by 2050. We are the first major economy in the world to legislate for a net zero target; this world-leading target will bring to an end the UK’s contribution to climate change.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to the net zero target, the UK has set a number of legally binding carbon budgets in accordance with the Climate Change Act 2008. These place a legally binding cap on greenhouse gas emissions over successive 5-year periods and must be set 12 years in advance. The UK carbon budgets already set in legislation are among the most stringent in the world, requiring a 57% reduction in emissions by 2032 from a 1990 baseline.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Through the National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW) the Government helps to protect the lowest paid in society. In April, the Government increased the NLW by 4.9% to £8.21. This means that a full-time worker on the NLW will be £2,750 better off over the course of a year, compared to when the policy was first introduced.</p><p> </p><p>Employers are required by law to ensure that all workers due the NMW or NLW receive it. The Government takes tough action against the minority of employers who underpay the NMW. We have doubled the budget for NMW enforcement and compliance to £27.4 million since 2015.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also encourages employers to pay more than the NLW where they can but recognises that the ability to do so will vary across businesses and sectors.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Collective bargaining is largely a matter for individual employers, their employees and their trade unions.</p><p> </p><p>Where an employer refuses to recognise a union for collective bargaining, that union can apply to the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) to be statutorily recognised. Unions that can demonstrate that they have majority support amongst workers for recognition for collective bargaining purposes in the workplace will secure statutory recognition from the CAC.</p><p> </p><p>The system in Great Britain is based therefore on the democratic wishes of workers in the workplace.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The introduction of the National Living Wage (NLW) in 2016 gave low-paid workers the fastest pay rise in almost 20 years. In April 2019 it increased again by 4.9% to £8.21. Last month, my rt. hon. Friend Mr Chancellor of the Exzchequer pledged that the NLW will increase even further, reaching two-thirds of median earnings within five years, provided economic conditions allow.</p><p>The NLW and National Minimum Wage (NMW) are the statutory minimum rates of pay and apply within the UK. We encourage employers to pay more than the minimum where they can afford to do so.</p><p>Collective bargaining is largely a matter for individual employers, their employees and their trade unions. The UK complies with its international obligations, including International Labour Organisation conventions on the right to organise and collective bargaining, and we encourage other countries to do the same.</p> more like this
