	answer	answer answer text <p>The Places of Worship Protective Security Funding Scheme has been in place since 2016. Over the first three years, in total the scheme has approved grants worth approximately £1.5 million with 63 to churches, 49 to mosques, 5 to Hindu temples and 17 to Gurdwaras.</p><p><br>We continuously listen to feedback to make the scheme as effective as possible, and places of worship which successfully bid for funding have described feeling an increased sense of safety. As part of our ongoing assessment of the success of the scheme, we monitor the scheme’s application rates and other related management information, seek regular feedback from faith communities and security experts, and undertake site visits at places of worship which have received funding. We have also heard that some places of worship found it cumbersome to gather multiple quotes for all measures, which is why we have removed the requirement under the 2019-20 scheme.</p><p><br>More widely, the Home Secretary has committed to consulting with faith communities to understand what more could and should be done to help protect faith communities at their places of worship. 	answer	answer answer text <p>In April last year the Government published its Serious Violence Strategy which sets out our response to violent crime including knife crime, gun crime and homicides. It also sets out our action in relation to tackling gang related crime through our Ending Gang Violence and Exploitation and our continued support for local areas through this programme.</p><p>We are making progress in the delivery of our Strategy and have already provided funding to support 29 projects through our Early Intervention Youth Fund, supported the launch of the new National County Lines Coordination Centre in September 2018 and delivered our #knifefree campaigns.</p><p>In March this year the Chancellor also announced a further £100m of funding to support police efforts to tackle serious violence. £65m has been allocated to support the police with £35m being made available to support the creation of Violence Reductions Units.</p> question first answered 17/06/2019 16:55:06 answering member 4399 label Biography information for Victoria Atkins

At the end of March, the Home Office launched a new national marketing campaign to encourage EU citizens to apply.</p><p>The Home Office has translated advertising and communications materials into 25 European languages and Welsh. This includes the applicant guidance, poster, factsheet and videos. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The Home Office has put in place a comprehensive communications and engagement plan and is working with a range of stakeholders to ensure that all those who are eligible to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme do so by the relevant deadline.</p><p>We are encouraged by the initial number of applications, well over one million people have been granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme, but recognise that we must continue to raise awareness of the Scheme to ensure that all resident EEA and Swiss citizens are aware of the steps they need to take to secure their status in the UK. Advertising and local events are underway to support the cross government Get Ready campaign and further publicity will roll out over the lifetime of the Scheme. All available channels will be used to reach our audiences – such as direct marketing, radio, video-on-demand and outdoor advertising, presentations, email updates, toolkits and webinars to name a few – to direct EU citizens towards reliable sources of information on GOV.UK and the application itself.</p><p>We have made clear that we will take a proportionate approach to anyone who misses the deadline and will make provision for those who have reasonable grounds for doing so to apply after the deadline. This includes funding 57 organisations with up to £9m from the Home Office to help vulnerable EU citizens to apply.</p><p> </p><p>Ensuring that vulnerable EU citizens are supported to obtain status is a core element in the delivery of the scheme. For applicants with additional care and support needs, we are continuing to engage with stakeholders to determine responsibilities in multiple complex scenarios across different care settings to ensure appropriate support is in place.</p><p> </p><p>This includes:</p><p>o Those in care homes (nursing and residential), receiving community or at home support;</p><p>o Those whose care is funded by local authorities, the NHS or privately, and combinations of care funding; and</p><p>o Those who lack mental capacity</p><p>We are working collaboratively with key organisations such as the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Department for Health and Social Care, Ministry of Justice, the Devolved Administrations, the NHS and Office of the Public Guardian, as well as with stakeholders including the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, the Care Provider Allice and Local Government Association.</p><p>This collaborative approach is informing the development of a support model that will set out how local authorities and partners can work together to identify and support adults with care and support needs to apply to the Settlement Scheme.</p> question first answered 05/09/2019 15:45:15 answering member 4009 label Biography information for Sir Brandon Lewis

	answer	answer answer text <p>Immediately after exit, EU citizens can continue to cross the border using their passport or national identity card. They will be able to use e-Gates if they are travelling on a biometric passport.</p><p>EU citizens will not be routinely asked to prove that they have been granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme after EU Exit in order to re-enter the UK but systems will be in place to allow border officials to make such checks where necessary. As of 31 August 2019, 1.3 million people have now applied to the EU Settlement Scheme. Of these, approximately 66,700 are non-EU family members. EU citizens and their families have until at least 31 December 2020 to apply, and the Home Office will continually monitor interest and intake to the scheme throughout its lifetime.</p><p>Further advertising and stakeholder communications are underway to continue to raise awareness of the scheme. All available channels will be used to reach our audiences – such as direct marketing, radio, video-on-demand and outdoor advertising, presentations, email updates, toolkits and webinars to name a few – to direct all eligible cohorts towards reliable sources of information on GOV.UK and the application itself.</p><p>No-one will be left behind which is why we are also working in partnership with vulnerable group representatives, local authorities and other experts to make everyone knows what they need to do and has the right level of support.
