	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>Serious and organised crime affects more of us, more often, than any other national security threat, persistently eroding our economy and our communities. It costs the UK at least £37 billion every year. <br>The newly updated Serious and Organised Crime Strategy, published on 1st November 2018, sets out how the Government will mobilise the full force of the state and align the collective efforts of key partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors to tackle serious and organised crime together in one single approach.</p><p>We also continue to invest in the right capabilities and tools for law enforcement, across Government and in partnership with the private sector to tackle SOC effectively.</p><p>The cross-system approach is aligned to the four strategy objectives: <br>o Relentless disruption and targeted action against the highest harm serious and organised criminals and networks affecting the UK</p><p>o Building the highest levels of defence and resilience in vulnerable people, communities, businesses and systems</p><p>o Stopping the problem at source, identifying and supporting those at risk of engaging in criminality</p><p>o Establishing a single, whole-system response, aligning the efforts of all those involved in responding to serious and organised crime as one, cohesive system.</p><p>The Government has already made some early progress in implementing the Serious and Organised Crime Strategy. For example, we have:<br>• established and expanded the new community coordinator programme pilot areas in England and in Wales to promote community resilience and divert people away from serious and organised crime; <br>• deployed a new cross-government overseas policy specialists network to complement existing international law enforcement operational work abroad;. <br>• established a National UK Protected Persons Services in the National Crime Agency on 1st April 2019, through the transfer of England and Wales based Protected Person Units, to ensure the best protection possible is available to individuals while enhanc-ing judicial outcomes across the Criminal Justice Service. <br> <br>The Government is determined to prevent serious and organised crime, defend against it, track down perpetrators and bring them to justice. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>The Government recognises the corrosive effects of corruption at the border in both the 2017-2022 Anti-Corruption Strategy and the 2018 Serious and Organised Crime Strategy. As committed in the Anti-Corruption Strategy, the Home Office is leading on a comprehensive work programme to understand, manage and mitigate this vulnerability. Alongside Strategy implementation, law enforcement agencies continue to target the organised crime groups who use corruption, collusion and coercion to enable criminality at our airports and ports.</p><p>Border Force itself is working to address the risk, including raising staff awareness of their vulnerability to attempts by Organised Crime Gangs to compromise their integrity. Measures are being put in place to encourage staff to declare such attempts or any potentially compromising developments in their personal lives, so they can be protected and mitigations put in place. The department understands that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, and that this will have an impact in the longer-term. Although schools should encourage all pupils to work hard and achieve well in primary assessments, the department does not recommend that they devote excessive time to preparation, and certainly not at the expense of pupils’ mental health and wellbeing.</p><p> </p><p>Assessments are a crucial part of a child’s schooling and are fundamental in a high-performing education system. Statutory assessments at primary school are an essential part in ensuring that all pupils master the basics of reading, writing, and maths to prepare them for secondary school. Assessment data also enables parents, schools, and the department to understand the impact of lost time in education and recovery initiatives.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017, the government carried out a consultation into primary assessment in England. The consultation received over 4,000 responses from a diverse range of backgrounds and specialisms, providing a broad and informed range of views that informed policy on the current primary assessment system. Only essential travel that is permitted should be undertaken and passengers need to comply with all inbound and outbound passenger requirements.</p><p>When travelling, passengers should abide by current social distancing measures, wear masks and follow instructions where indicated, as per the Safer Transport guidance. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2021 answer text <p>Since April 2019 the Scheme has offered or paid more than £34 million in compensation to members of the Windrush generation. On 21 July the Home Office (HO) published the latest set of data on the Scheme which covers the period to the end of June 2021. During the month of June, the HO paid out £2.4 million in compensation. More than £26 million in compensation has been paid across 776 claims.</p><p>In December we overhauled the Scheme and the changes have had an immediate effect on the speed and value of offers of compensation. Since the end of December, we have paid more than eight times the total amount paid previously.</p><p>However, the HO recognises that there is more still to do to speed up the time between submission and decision on claims. On 21 July the HO published a redesigned primary claim form which is easier for people to complete, and refreshed caseworker guidance which sets out clearly how caseworkers should apply the balance of probabilities and gather evidence to ensure claimants are only asked to provide the minimum information necessary. Together, these should reduce the time taken to process claims and improve peoples’ experiences of applying to the Scheme.</p><p>The HO is also recruiting more case workers. Since the end of April, casework FTE has been increased by seven caseworkers and a team of 14 experienced caseworkers onto the scheme from elsewhere in the HO. The HO is in the process of recruiting a further 15 caseworkers and plan to hold a large reserve list so vacancies created through attrition can be filled more quickly.</p><p>The HO is also directing resources to where it is needed most to maximise final decision output. NHS Improvement and NHS Employers are working in partnership to support trusts to improve retention of the nursing workforce. They offer targeted support to trusts to collaborate on key issues affecting retention such as flexible working, supporting new starters and older workers, and development and career planning.</p><p>Alongside these retention programmes, the NHS published its interim People Plan on 3 June. It sets out a plan of action to meet the health requirements of the population outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan. The Interim People plan puts NHS people at the heart of NHS policy and a key programme is to make the NHS the best place to work. It was developed by engaging widely with staff, patients, employers, professional organisations, regulatory bodies, voluntary sector, academia and other experts.
