	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>We are committed to promoting the Arts and culture outside London, and continue to work closely with the Arts Council to ensure that the whole of the country has access to funding for arts and cultural programmes.</p><p> </p><p>Last year 70% of Arts Council's <ins class="ministerial">lottery</ins><del class="ministerial">total</del> funding was awarded outside London. Between 2018 and 2022 an additional £170 million of National Portfolio Organisation funding will be invested outside London.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the recent Cultural Development Fund has seen £20 million of funding shared between five towns and cities outside of the capital, while programmes such as Creative People and Places and the City of Culture programme continue to focus outside of the capital.</p><p> </p><p>DCMS has also recently announced an additional £4 million of funding for the DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund. In 2019/20, 35 museums and galleries will benefit from this funding which aims to improve audience experience. These documents set out our priorities to support the heritage sector building on the strategy set out for heritage in the Culture White Paper. These documents are accessible on gov.uk.</p><p> </p><p>To support the heritage sector we also provide Grant-in-Aid (GIA). In 2018/19 this included £91,607,000 for Historic England, £2,604,000 for the Churches Conservation Trust and £5,574,000 for the National Heritage Memorial Fund.</p><p> </p><p>Likewise, over £8bn of funding has been supplied by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to around 44,000 projects from 1 April 1994 to 31 March 2018. This is a statutory duty under the Development of Tourism Act 1969. For example, the “Discover More Than Just A Holiday” project, led by Marketing Lancashire and “Buzzing For The Weekend”, led by Warrington Council.</p><p> </p><p>VisitBritain also has a Gateway Partnership with Manchester Airport, promoting Manchester as a gateway to the North of England, encouraging visitors to choose Manchester, the North of England and Northern Wales as their destination.</p><p> </p><p>ExploreGB will be held in Harrogate this May, promoting UK tourism product to over 200 international buyers from over 30 countries. Destinations from the North of England will be attending this event, promoting their products face to face.</p><p> </p><p>The proposed Tourism Sector Deal aims to improve productivity in the tourism industry across the country through a range of initiatives.
