	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2019 answer text <p>No assessment has been made on adding a test for 22q11 deletion syndrome to the newborn blood spot test as the United Kingdom National Screening Committee’s (UK NSC) had not previously been asked to look at this condition.</p><p> </p><p>However, as part of the UK NSC`s annual call for topics 2018, a proposal was received to consider adding the condition of 22q11 deletion syndrome (also known as DiGeorge syndrome) to the new born blood spot programme.</p><p> </p><p>This is the first time the UK NSC has been asked to consider screening for 22q11. The UK NSC will be reviewing the proposal at its meeting at the end of the month and to agree next steps. The independent Advisory Group on Non-ionising Radiation (AGNIR) published their report in the UK in 2012 and the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) published their report in 2015. The World Health Organization is also currently preparing a review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/03/2019 answer text <p>In October 2018, the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) announced it had selected the first set of 12 products to receive rapid uptake support. Selected across seven technology areas, these innovations have the potential to benefit 500,000 patients and to achieve National Health Service savings of up to £30 million.</p><p> </p><p>Over the last few months, the AAC has made good progress on developing plans to tackle the barriers to the uptake of these products in the National Health Service. The AAC has worked with clinicians, innovators, the Royal Colleges and health system delivery partners to develop bespoke support packages for each product.</p><p> </p><p>Increased uptake will be supported by up to £2 million through the Pathway Transformation Fund, which will be directed at the barriers to use in the NHS. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/03/2019 answer text <p>The accident and emergency (A&amp;E) department at the Friarage Hospital is not closing but transforming into a 24 hours, seven days a week urgent treatment centre (UTC) in line with clinical guidance. The UTC will be able to see all patients with minor illnesses and minor injuries.</p><p> </p><p>It is the responsibility of local National Health Service organisations, when making decisions on service changes, to fully consider any impact on patients. Commissioners also have to consider any impact on health inequalities, including those in rural areas, and the NHS Long Term Plan commits to developing a delivery model for small rural acute hospitals to ensure sustainable and efficient service delivery.</p><p> </p><p>However, the vast majority of the services at the Friarage Hospital will remain unchanged with 89% of patients unaffected by these changes. Patients with serious medical conditions, such as those suffering from a stroke, heart attack and/or trauma already go directly to James Cook University Hospital.</p><p> </p><p>There are robust plans in place to ensure patient safety. In future, a medical consultant will review all emergency cases prior to arrival, via a telephone triage with the ambulance team or general practitioner. More seriously ill patients will be diverted to appropriate hospital sites, typically James Cook or Darlington Memorial. This decision will be based on patient need and the patient’s home location. The review is considering the appropriateness of operational standards for physical and mental health relating to planned, unplanned urgent or emergency care, as well as cancer. The Review is being led by NHS England’s National Medical Director, Professor Stephen Powis. In the interest of patient safety, we are committed to ensuring that any changes to waiting time standards are based on clinical evidence.
