	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/02/2019 answer text <p>The safety and security of prisons is a top priority.</p><p> </p><p>Prisons already use body searches, metal-detecting scanners and drug detection dogs, and we have invested £7 million in modern technology, including phone blocking technology and improved searching techniques. As announced recently in the Budget, we will now spend an extra £30 million this financial year to further improve decency, safety and security in prisons.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We do not disclose details of our prison security defence capability, including our use of CCTV, for reasons of operational security. Additionally, complete information on the cost of installing and upgrading CCTV in prisons could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. Fewer than 0.5% of offenders under statutory supervision are convicted of an SFO.
