answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/02/2019 answer text <p>The NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) was implemented in 2017 to ensure course sustainability so that subjects previously funded through National Health Service bursaries continued to offer some non-repayable funding for the unique characteristics of these courses – such as placement length, clinical placement requirements and student demographic. The LSF is applicable only to those courses which, at the time, were within the scope of the education funding reforms in 2017.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017 the route into paramedicine had various education and funding models which did not include access to an NHS Bursary, therefore it was not part of the funding reforms and students were not eligible to access LSF funding.</p><p> </p><p>From March 2018 paramedicine became an all degree subject, with students accessing loans and allowances from the Student Loans Company. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/02/2020 answer text <p>From September 2020 eligible paramedic science students will receive a non-repayable annual maintenance grant of at least £5,000 per academic year<sup>1</sup>. Some students may also be eligible for additional funding, including non-repayable financial support to help with childcare costs.</p><p>Eligible students can also claim some costs associated with clinical placement and an exceptional hardship fund of up to £3,000 per year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2021 answer text <p>The Government is keen to minimise disruption and has put in place specific measures for allied health profession students, like paramedicine, that includes ensuring that students on placement have access to broadly equitable support as for NHS staff, such as being classed as essential workers for the purpose of testing and access to travel, school and childcare places, and having access to appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for placement duties.</p><p>Health Education England (HEE) is working with system partners to ensure any impact on training and placements is minimised; including supporting universities to rearrange interrupted clinical placements and finding alternatives such as using simulation where that is appropriate.</p><p>We know that the health and wellbeing needs of students must be prioritised and NHS England &amp; Improvement and HEE have been working closely with universities and placement providers to ensure students have the support they need, including access to NHS mental health support.</p><p>Ministers and officials from the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care have regular discussions on these issues.</p> answering member constituency Chippenham answering member printed Michelle Donelan question first answered 01/03/2021 11:48:45 answering member 4530 label Biography information for Michelle Donelan

Therefore, paramedic training was not included in the scope of the reforms implemented in 2017.
