That is why, as part of the Industrial Strategy, we announced our commitment to increasing R&amp;D investment to 2.4% of GDP by 2027 and, this year, launched UK Research &amp; Innovation’s Strength in Places Fund which will fund Research and Innovation projects which support local growth and productivity.</p><p> </p><p>I refer the hon. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2019 answer text <p>The Department has laid draft legislation before Parliament (the draft Recognition of Professional Qualifications (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019) to ensure that in the event of the UK exiting the EU without a withdrawal agreement, the system for the recognition of EEA and Swiss professional qualifications in the UK will continue to function effectively; and that existing recognition decisions for EEA and Swiss professionals within scope of this legislation (approximately 38,000 decisions) will remain valid. This confirms that recognition decisions made before exit day will not be affected by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.</p><p> </p><p>It also confirms that new applications for recognition after exit day will be treated as third country applications.
