star this property answer text <p>We are living in a period where the UK and our international partners face sustained hostile activity from certain states, and the Government takes this threat to the country very seriously.</p><p><br>The Home Office has taken a number of steps to counter hostile state activity. For example, the Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act, which gained Royal Assent on 12 February 2019, provides a new power to stop, question, search and detain an individual at a port or border area to determine whether they are, or have been, involved in hostile state activity.</p><p><br>In addition, the Home Office is currently leading a review of existing Coun-ter-Hostile State Activity legislation in the UK, to establish whether further legislation is required to strengthen our response to all forms of hostile state activity.</p> more like this

We will always prioritise our response to the threats that the UK faces.</p><p>No decisions have been taken on the Integrated Review. In light of the decision to move to a one-year Spending Review, the Government is considering the implications for the completion of the Review and will provide an update to Parliament once these have been decided.</p> more like this

Military Joint doctrine is reviewed continually by the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre through a five yearly plan. star this property answer text <p>Between July 2020 and January 2022, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has issued Public Interest Intervention Notices under the Enterprise Act 2002, on national security grounds, in relation to the following acquisitions:</p><p><strong> </strong></p><ul><li><p>the proposed acquisition of Ultra Electronics Holdings plc by Cobham Ultra Acquisitions Limited;</p></li><li><p>the proposed acquisition of The Perpetuus Group by Taurus International Ltd and others; and</p></li><li><p>the proposed acquisition of Meggitt plc by Parker-Hannifin corporation</p></li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In addition, the then Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport used the same powers in relation to the proposed acquisition of Arm by NVIDIA in April 2021.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Since 4 January 2022, the Government has had powers under the National Security and Investment (NSI) Act 2021 to scrutinise and, where necessary, intervene in acquisitions which may raise national security concerns. These powers replaced the national security limb of public interest intervention powers under the Enterprise Act 2002. In February 2023, responsibility for NSI moved from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to the Cabinet Office, under the Deputy Prime Minister.</p><p>The Government promised to deliver a regime that is as business-friendly as possible while protecting our national security. The National Security &amp; Investment Act Annual Report demonstrates that we are succeeding in that mission.</p><p> </p>
