The assessment found that county lines continue to be at the forefront of drug supply nationally and have evolved in response to environmental changes.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The county lines business model remains heavily weighted towards the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. NCLCC’s latest assessment indicates that there has been a reduction in the total number of potentially active deal lines, with numbers reported to have fallen from between 800-1,100 in 2019/20 to 600 in 2020/21.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">We continue to work with partners to address the underlying drivers of exploitation and ensure support and protection is in place for children exploited through county lines criminality. Wehave funded specialist support for victims of county lines exploitation to deliver one-to-one support to under 25s and their families in the three largest county lines exporting force areas</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">This Government is also delivering a range of initiatives to tackle youth violence including investing over £105.5 million from 2019 to 2022, (VRUs). The Home Office also works closely with the Department for Education to tackle youth violence.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">We will continue to use data on rates of drug use to monitor trends and inform the Government’s approach to addressing drugs and drug harms’.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Government acknowledges the strength of feeling on juvenile CHIS, however, we must recognise that some juveniles are involved in serious crimes, as perpetrators and victims. In some circumstances a young person may have unique access to information or intelligence that could play a vital part in preventing or detecting serious offences.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Young people are only authorised as CHIS in rare circumstances. We are committed to giving police the resources, tools and powers they need to tackle the scourge of crime.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Home Office does not hold figures for the number of police officer vacancies advertised prior to 23 July 2019.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) had previously announced plans to recruit 3000 additional officers in 2019/20. The recruitment of 20,000 officers announced by the Government is in addition to these numbers already announced by PCCs.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Prime Minister and Home Secretary have announced the recruitment of 20,000 extra officers over the next three years. This demonstrates our commitment to support the police and give them extra resource to protect the public and keep us all safe. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The allocation of officers across England and Wales is yet to be confirmed. We are working closely with police leaders to put in place the plans and systems to deliver on our commitment. It is not possible to provide a specific figure of the number of notifications per EU Member States until the technical response is complete. We strongly support the right to protest peacefully, but this pandemic has led to many of our individual freedoms being curtailed because everyone has a role to play in helping to control the virus following the rules. This is how we can continue to save lives so we can recover. Under the current regulations, gatherings of more than six people from different households are not permitted. We are in close contact with police to ensure they are prepared to respond to any public disorder and have appropriate policing plans in place. How they use these powers is an operational matter for the police, who are independent of Government. The Police have adopted an effective approach of the 4Es; engaging, explaining and encouraging compliance before moving to enforcement options. The National Police Chiefs Council and the College of Policing have issued guidance on how they will enforce the regulation. This is how we can continue to save lives so we can recover.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Under the current regulations, gatherings of more than six people from different households are not permitted. We are in close contact with police to ensure they are prepared to respond to any public disorder and have appropriate policing plans in place. How they use these powers is an operational matter for the police, who are independent of Government.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Police have adopted an effective approach of the 4Es; engaging, explaining and encouraging compliance before moving to enforcement options. The National Police Chiefs Council and the College of Policing have issued guidance on how they will enforce the regulation.
