star this property answer text <p>Information about the total calls offered to the Department’s benefit telephone lines for the 18 month period May 2017 to October 2018 for which data is available has been published in the House of Commons Library<strong>.</strong></p><p> </p><p>The total number of calls across the Department have remained at a consistent level since May 2017. During this period we have rolled out Universal Credit, the Universal Credit caseload has risen to over 1.3 million, and we have been receiving calls from Universal Credit claimants that would previously have gone to HMRC or Local Authorities.</p><p> </p><p>The requested information is in the attached document.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Independent Case Examiner’s Office routinely considers whether the complaints it accepts for examination can be resolved, to the complainant’s satisfaction, without the need for a full examination of the case. The resolution process will only succeed if the complainant is satisfied that their complaint has been addressed. Decisions on whether to refer a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s Office, regardless of the stage at which it was concluded by the Independent Case Examiner’s Office, rest with individual Members of Parliament.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Our Jobcentre staff undergo a comprehensive learning journey designed to equip them with the tools, skills and behaviours required to provide a high quality service to all claimants.</p><p> </p><p>Specific training and guidance is provided for all staff on working with different vulnerable groups, including survivors and those still experiencing domestic abuse. Jobcentre staff will signpost claimants to national and local organisations that provide specialist support and Work Coaches can apply domestic violence easements, switching off all work-related requirements for a period of time.</p><p> </p><p>In addition a national call was held earlier this year to raise awareness and understanding of domestic abuse across the Jobcentre network and a video has been produced to highlight good practice when supporting individuals who have been or are currently in a domestic abuse relationship.</p> more like this

These are recoverable from the estate of the deceased, where possible, but we write most of them off as often there aren’t enough assets in the estate.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Debt Management can also recover any Funeral Expenses Payments that were paid incorrectly; e.g. where a payment was made as a result of a qualifying benefit being claimed incorrectly either as a result of claimant error or fraud.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst DWP does hold data regarding this type of overpayment the numbers are low, less than 15 in total for the period requested.</p> more like this
