star this property answer text <p>We have not provided guidance, instructions or resources to local authorities for Safeguarding Adult Reviews related to the death of homeless people.</p><p> </p><p>At present we do not hold data on how many homeless people died in the last year. Our statistics on Adult Safeguarding Reviews does not include information on place of residence, however, the Office for National Statistics is preparing to publish official estimates in December as experimental statistics.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government does not collect national level data on the living circumstances of the subjects of Safeguarding Adult Reviews.</p><p>The care and support statutory guidance provides the criterion for conducting Safeguarding Adult Reviews, the guidance relates to all adults and does not specify whether the review is related to the death of a homeless person.</p><p>The care and support statutory guidance states that a Safeguarding Adult Board must conduct a Safeguarding Adult Review, when an adult in its area dies or is seriously harmed as a result of abuse or neglect, whether known or suspected, and there is concern that partner agencies could have worked more effectively to protect the adult. This criterion is also used for the death of a homeless person.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department has published the Care and Support Statutory Guidance, which provides information on what constitutes abuse or neglect. The list is not intended to be exhaustive, rather it provides guidance on the sort of behaviour which could give rise to a safeguarding concern. It includes physical, domestic, sexual, psychological, discriminatory, financial and material abuse. Local authorities should not limit their view of what constitutes abuse and should consider the circumstances of the individual’s case.</p> more like this
