That announcement also included the provision of support to advance in planning 17 additional Shared Education, primary and post primary integrated education projects. It was made clear at the time of this announcement that funding for the construction of these and other projects would be awarded in line with existing processes and following the necessary approvals. A second tranche of Fresh Start Agreement funding that would advance a number of these projects to construction is currently under consideration and I hope the Secretary of State will be in a position to make a further announcement that will provide additional information on our funding commitment in due course.
more like this

It is important to note, however, that the Hart report was commissioned by the NI Executive, and the method of response to the recommendations should be for a restored devolved Government to decide.

I am aware that the Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, David Sterling, has made a commitment to have legislation to implement the recommendations of the Hart report ready to publish soon, and I am assured that Mr Sterling will take what action he feels appropriate at this stage to keep the process moving forward so that a restored Executive may be able to action this work swiftly.

The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland will of course consider carefully any invitation she receives from Judge Hart or the groups that represent victims of historical institutional abuse.

more like this

The honourable Member may find it useful to refer to the answer I gave on 29 October which confirms that preparatory work is underway within the Department of Health in Northern Ireland to allow for the introduction of HPV to boys in Northern Ireland, if and when such a decision is taken by a Health Minister in Northern Ireland. This approach reflects the fact that health policy is devolved in Northern Ireland and so the decision whether to introduce the HPV vaccine for boys is one for Northern Ireland Ministers to take.
more like this

star this property answer text
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland’s statement to the House of 6 September set out our clear plan for restoring the Northern Ireland Executive as soon as possible. We intend to introduce primary legislation after the conference recess to provide for a limited and prescribed period in which there will be no legal requirement to set a date for a further election. Importantly, during this period, an Executive may be formed at any point without the requirement for further legislation. The Secretary of State will shortly be engaging in further discussions with the parties and the Irish Government, in accordance with the three stranded approach, with the intention of establishing a basis for moving into more formal political dialogue aimed at the restoration of the institutions. These discussions will also seek the views from the parties on when and how external facilitation could play a constructive role in the next round of talks.
more like this
