The Department maintains a strong working relationship with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and a CIEH representative sits on the project board that oversees the selective licensing review. Government is instead focussed on tackling rogue landlords. In April 2018, using powers under the Housing and Planning Act 2016, we introduced a national database of rogue landlords and property agents. We are committed to making this database publicly accessible as soon as parliamentary time allows.</p><p>Moreover, and unlike in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, local housing authorities in England are also able to introduce selective licensing of landlords in targeted areas to tackle specific problems, as long as the statutory requirements are met. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health sit on the Project Board for the independent review of selective licensing which is currently underway. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2019 answer text <p>Since a ministerial roundtable at No. 10 Downing Street in June, the Government has continued to work with landlords’, letting agencies’, lenders’, insurance providers’, and tenants’ representatives to explore the scope for joint communications to discourage the practice of preventing benefit claimants from applying for private rental sector lettings.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is clear that landlords and agents should look at all potential and existing tenants claiming housing benefit on an individual basis, regardless of whether or not they are in receipt of benefits. The How to Let and How to Rent guides help landlords, agents and tenants understand their rights and responsibilities.</p><p> </p><p>I’m pleased to say that following the meeting in June, both Metro Bank and The Mortgage Lender have announced that they were lifting their ‘No DSS’ restrictions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/09/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to reducing homelessness and rough sleeping. No one should ever have to sleep rough. That is why we have recently published our Rough Sleeping Strategy, which sets out the first steps towards achieving our aim to halve rough sleeping by 2022 and end it altogether by 2027, backed by £100 million of funding over the next two years.</p><p>We are also committed to working with all local authorities as we move towards a country where no one should sleep rough.</p><p>Crawley is receiving £470,000 along with Eastbourne, Lewes, Wealden, Rother, Arun, Adur, Worthing, Chichester, Horsham and Hastings as part of our Rough Sleeping Grant to expand their existing rough sleeper pathway until Spring 2019.</p><p>Crawley will, along with other local authorities, shortly be contacted by the Rough Sleeping Initiative team to explore what additional support and assistance can be provided to help people escape rough sleeping for good in their areas.</p><p>Over the spending period up to 2020 councils will be able to access more than £200 billion to spend on local services; of this, West Sussex County Council will have available over £2.6 billion.
