star this property answer text <p>The 100,000 Genomes Project is focussed on recruiting patients, including children, with rare diseases (and their family members) and those with common cancers. These are areas where whole genome sequencing may offer the best opportunity to diagnose disease. From the Project’s pilot phase we have found actionable findings in 20-25% of rare disease patients.</p><p> </p><p>The scope of the project does not include screening at birth. The Chief Medical Officer, in her annual report Generation Genome, recommended that that the National Screening Committee conducts a systematic evaluation of the opportunities offered by genomics for present and potential screening practices.</p> more like this

The Government has reviewed the existing NAP and concluded that it is remains fit for purpose. star this property answer text <p>The Department was made aware of the immigration status difficulties of individual cases, as flagged by members of the House and the media. The wider issue around the immigration status difficulties affecting some of the Windrush generation has come to the fore, and the attention of Ministers, in recent months. On the 16 April we set up a Taskforce to help those affected get documents they need and on 30 May, the Windrush Scheme came into force. This Scheme is designed to ensure that members of this generation, their children born in the UK and those who arrived in the UK as minors will be able to apply for citizenship, or various other immigration products, free of charge.</p> more like this
