star this property answer text <p>The 100,000 Genomes Project is focussed on recruiting patients, including children, with rare diseases (and their family members) and those with common cancers. These are areas where whole genome sequencing may offer the best opportunity to diagnose disease. From the Project’s pilot phase we have found actionable findings in 20-25% of rare disease patients.</p><p> </p><p>The scope of the project does not include screening at birth. The Chief Medical Officer, in her annual report Generation Genome, recommended that that the National Screening Committee conducts a systematic evaluation of the opportunities offered by genomics for present and potential screening practices.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Inappropriately placing people away from their home area is unacceptable and the Government is committed to eliminating these in non-specialist, acute mental health care by 2020/21. NHS England and NHS Improvement now have a comprehensive national programme supporting reductions in inappropriate placements. Every part of the country now has a clear, realistic plan for ending out of area placements safely by 2021, with many areas having already ended this practice altogether.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are clear that accident and emergency (A&amp;E) departments must deliver timely assessments and treatment to avoid delays in treating incoming patients, including those arriving by ambulance. Intensive support is in place to improve A&amp;E performance and lessen the impact of handover delays on East Midlands Ambulance Service. Performance improvement plans are in place at 11 hospital sites, with progress being closely monitored by NHS Improvement. star this property answer text <p>The implementation of the National Health Service Five Year Forward View has taken into account the findings of the Murray Review. NHS England has seen progress in a number of areas to implement the recommendations. For example the Pharmacy Integration Fund has supported a pilot in the North East of referral from NHS 111 to community pharmacies for minor illness and the national ‘stay well campaign’ continues to highlight the role of community pharmacy in this area. We are aware of locally commissioned schemes addressing hypertension. The Pharmacy Integration Fund is also supporting the roll out of clinical pharmacists in general practice and in care homes with additional training to award independent prescriber status.</p> more like this
