star this property answer text <p>The Department was made aware of the immigration status difficulties of individual cases, as flagged by members of the House and the media. The wider issue around the immigration status difficulties affecting some of the Windrush generation has come to the fore, and the attention of Ministers, in recent months. On the 16 April we set up a Taskforce to help those affected get documents they need and on 30 May, the Windrush Scheme came into force. This Scheme is designed to ensure that members of this generation, their children born in the UK and those who arrived in the UK as minors will be able to apply for citizenship, or various other immigration products, free of charge.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy was clear that for reasons of national security warships must be built in the UK.</p><p>Fleet solid support ships do not fall under the National Shipbuilding Strategy definition of a warship. All non-Warships are procured through international competition to secure best value for money.</p><p>We have encouraged UK shipyards to participate in the competition and have been pleased with the positive engagement so far.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Where migrants need to undergo a right to work check while their immigration application is outstanding and their documents are with the Home Office, their status can be confirmed by the employer contacting the Home Office employer checking service. Those applying to extend their stay in the UK are likely to have opened bank accounts already.</p><p>From November 2018, the majority of immigration applicants who apply to confirm or extend their stay in the UK, or apply for citizenship, will be managed by the Home Office’s new commercial partner Sopra Steria on behalf of UK Visas and Immigration. As part of this new service applicants will be able to retain their passport and supporting evidence as part of the application process.</p> more like this

We recognise the importance of the experience at the border for visitors and every effort is made to keep delays at the border to a minimum while always maintaining the security of the UK Border. Over 95% of all passengers seeking entry at Heathrow in 2018 have been dealt with within the service level agreements</p><p>Border Force is taking a number of steps to ensure passengers pass through the border at ports including Heathrow as quickly as possible, including through investment in technology and increasing the availability of staff at the busiest times of the day.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Border Force is taking a number of steps to ensure passengers are dealt with quickly, including through investment in technology and maximising available staff at the busiest times of the day.</p><p>Border Force is committed to providing an excellent service. During the first quarter of 2018, over 95% of passengers seeking entry to the UK at Heathrow were dealt with within the service level agreements.</p><p>We have also increased resources that are available to the busiest ports. For example, Border Force is putting in 200 additional staff to help process passengers at Heathrow this summer. They will remain at Heathrow throughout the busiest summer-period to help ensure Border Force delivers an excellent service while continuing to protect the security of the border.</p><p>The experience for British and other EEA nationals is further enhanced where those passengers travel using biometric passports as they can use our ePassport gates</p> more like this
