Our policies are designed to ensure that disabled people can access the labour market, get the support they need and can progress in their careers. For example:</p><ul><li>Universal Credit makes it easier to start work and earn more because it offers personalised support to progress in work, and stays with people as they move in to work. People can work as many hours as they want, without having to worry about their claim.</li><li>Our Disability Confident scheme aims to help and encourage more employers to become good employers of disabled people. Nearly 6,000 employers have already signed up to Disability Confident.</li><li>Access to Work provides support of up to £57,200 per annum so that disabled people can stay in work and progress to senior levels, while having their support needs met.</li></ul><p>Government has the ambition of getting 1 million more disabled people in to work. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/05/2018 answer text <p>5,964 employers are currently signed up to Disability Confident and 2,551 employers have completed their self-assessment to become Disability Confident Employers (Level 2). This includes organisations ranging in size from large multi nationals to local employers, including private businesses, colleges, sports clubs, NHS trusts and social enterprises. All main government Departments are at Level 3 (Disability Confident Leader) and over 80% of Local Authorities are Disability Confident.</p><p> </p><p>The Disability Confident Business Leaders Group (BLG), comprising senior leaders from significant British businesses across all sectors, is helping to increase engagement with employers. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/10/2018 answer text <p>The information requested to estimate the effect of the 20 metre rule in Personal Independence Payment (PIP) on the level of support received by people with multiple sclerosis is not readily available and to provide it would incur disproportionate cost. 52 per cent of claimants whose main disabling condition is recorded as being multiple sclerosis receive the highest level of support under PIP, compared to just 39 per cent Disability Living Allowance.</p><p> </p><p>The Department does not hold the data requested on the costs to other Departments of providing related services.</p><p> </p><p>The 20 metre distance was introduced in PIP to distinguish those whose mobility is significantly more limited than others and who face even greater barriers on a day to day basis – those who have the highest need.</p><p> </p><p>Individuals who can walk more than 20 metres can still receive the enhanced rate of the PIP mobility component, if they cannot do so safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and in a reasonable time period.</p> answering member constituency Truro and Falmouth answering member printed Sarah Newton question first answered 25/10/2018 14:48:55 answering member 4071 label Biography information for Sarah Newton
