star this property answer text <p>The position of Crown Representative to BT became vacant on 30 September 2016 and was filled on 9 January 2018.</p><p>The Crown Representatives comprise a vital component of the Strategic Supplier programme. They are not politically appointed but are contractors assigned to companies where they have detailed knowledge of the sector, but where there is no conflict with other concurrent roles.</p><p>The time taken to identify and recruit high-calibre individuals who have the necessary skills and in depth knowledge required, and who have no conflict of interests with other roles, can be lengthy, but it is essential that we secure the best candidates.</p><p>While Crown Representative positions are vacant, the responsibilities of the role were covered by the Government’s Chief Commercial Officer and the Cabinet Office Director of Markets and Suppliers.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has ensured superfast broadband (speeds of 24 Mbps or more) is available to over 95% of UK premises and is continuing to invest to extend superfast coverage as far beyond 95% as possible. The Government is also introducing a Universal Service Obligation so that by 2020 everyone across the UK will have a clear, enforceable right to request high speed broadband (speeds of 10 Mbps or more). In the period before 2020, the Government has made a commitment to provide every home and business in the UK with access to basic broadband service (speeds of 2Mbps), which should be sufficient for online banking. A subsided broadband installation is available if the home or business cannot access an affordable broadband service with a speed of at least 2 Mbps.</p> more like this
