If mental health needs are identified, prisoners are referred for treatment or follow up assessment.</p><p>Safety and security are crucial to supporting better mental health in prisons. We committed to an increase of 2,500 prison officers by the end of 2018, and have recruited 1,255 to date, putting us on track.</p><p>Additional staff will enable us to provide dedicated officers for offenders who will be better placed to recognise and react to changes in behaviour or mental well-being.</p><p>All staff in prisons will receive revised mental health awareness training and, so far, 11,000 have started this training.</p> answering member constituency Bracknell answering member printed Dr Phillip Lee grouped question UIN 903502 question first answered 23/01/2018 17:23:42 answering member 3921 label Biography information for Dr Phillip Lee

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2018 answer text <p>Legal aid is not generally available for UK residents to re-unite with their family members from overseas. The Government policy on legal aid continues to be that limited legal aid resources are made available for the highest priority cases and to the most financially vulnerable.</p><p> </p><p>Applying for family reunion does not require specialist legal advice. Guidance to support applications for family reunion is available from UK Visas and Immigration.</p><p> </p><p>Not every case will be straightforward and, as with all cases outside the scope of legal aid, exceptional funding may be available where required under ECHR or EU law.</p><p> </p><p>The Lord Chancellor announced the Post Legislative Memorandum (PLM) and Post Implementation Review (PIR) to the Justice Select Committee on 25 October 2017 and the PLM was then laid on 30 October alongside a written Ministerial statement by Dominic Raab MP announcing the commencement of the PIR.</p> answering member constituency South East Cambridgeshire answering member printed Lucy Frazer question first answered 01/03/2018 17:58:24 answering member 4517 label Biography information for Lucy Frazer
