star this property answer text While the Foreign Secretary has not recently discussed this specific issue with his Israeli counterpart, our Embassy in Tel Aviv and our Consulate-General in Jerusalem frequently urge both the Israeli and Palestinian authorities to take steps to improve conditions in Gaza. Every Israeli and Palestinian has the right to live in peace and security. We strongly condemn the recent attempted assassination of Prime Minister Hamdallah on 13 March, for which there is no justification. The UK continues to support the return of the legitimate Palestinian Authority to Gaza. We urge non-violence, dialogue and progress towards a sustainable Hamas-Fatah reconciliation and an improvement in the humanitarian situation in Gaza. more like this

star this property answer text
Where it appears to a local authority that a vehicle in its area is abandoned, it has a duty to remove the vehicle, unless (in the case of vehicles not on a carriageway) the cost of moving the vehicle to the nearest carriageway would be unreasonably high. There is no statutory definition of ‘abandoned’, and it is for councils to determine whether any particular vehicle has been abandoned.

There is no statutory time frame for responding to reports of abandoned vehicles. Where a vehicle is abandoned on land that is ‘occupied’, the local authority must give the occupier 15 days’ notice that it proposes to remove the vehicle. The local authority is not entitled to remove the vehicle if the occupier objects to the proposal within that period. If the occupier gives the local authority permission to remove the vehicle during this 15-day period, the vehicle may be removed immediately, but there is no statutory time-frame for doing so.

It is up to councils to decide how best to meet their statutory duties in respect of abandoned vehicles, and how to prioritise this against other local services.

star this property answer text
There is no specific timescale within which the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) must respond or take action after receiving a report of a potentially unlicensed vehicle.

The DVLA has an online service for members of the public to notify possibly unlicensed vehicles. A report of notifications received via this service is sent weekly to the DVLA’s national wheel clamping contractor. The licensing status of any vehicles listed in the report will be checked, and appropriate action taken if they are seen on the public road.

The DVLA’s database also automatically recognises when a vehicle is non-compliant and highlights this so that enforcement action can be taken. Often action is under way that may not be immediately visible to the public.

The DVLA is not responsible for the removal of abandoned vehicles. Local authorities are able to do so using powers contained in the Cleaner Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2006. Alternatively, the police can remove any vehicle that is causing an obstruction, is likely to cause danger, or is broken down or abandoned without lawful authority.

The requirements must be reasonable and they are tailored to the claimant’s individual needs. For many of our claimants work preparation activity involves addressing their particular challenges, which can include managing their health condition. We would not ask a claimant to carry out an activity which would carry a risk to the health of the claimant, nor would we ask for a claimant to undergo medical treatment as part of their requirements. We work hard to build supportive and open relationships with our claimants so that we can agree support tailored in the most effective possible way.

Within the voluntary scheme, NHS trusts and soft drinks suppliers are committed to taking action to reduce the sales of sugary drinks, with a target of less than 10% of all sales. The NHS is currently monitoring sales information from the voluntary scheme and in April it will be able to analyse progress made from nine months of data. From this information NHS England will make a decision whether to enforce the ban or not, and what policy decisions to take as a result. Future action may include a focus specific to energy drinks sold to under-16s, but the current policy is taking action on sugary drinks as a whole.
more like this
