star this property answer text VAT is a broad-based tax on consumption and the standard rate of twenty percent applies to most goods and services, including the supply of sign language interpreters and palantypists by VAT-registered suppliers. Exceptions to the standard rate are strictly limited under domestic and international law. However, VAT-registered employers are able to deduct VAT incurred on such services to the extent that they relate to VAT-able supplies. more like this

star this property answer text There are currently 623 businesses in the UK who hold a valid Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) authorisation. HMRC does not capture data on the role of the authorisation holder in the supply chain so cannot provide the number of AEO status traders who are freight forwarding companies. The AEO programme is currently only available to businesses involved in the international supply chain; these businesses may also be involved in EU trade. HMRC offers substantial guidance on AEO on the Gov.uk website, additional guidance and learning modules are available on the EU web pages. HMRC also offers a helpdesk via email and telephone. more like this

star this property answer text Living conditions remain challenging due to overcrowding in camps, but my department is working to improve them. We are ensuring better healthcare for refugees - particularly for vulnerable groups including children. The UK has worked with the international community on the humanitarian response plan (HRP) agreed with the international community in September 2017. My department has been working on preparedness measures for the monsoon and cyclone season in Bangladesh since December, working with several other agencies. UK aid has ensured existing shelters of around 158,000 people in camps and host communities most at risk will be upgraded to better withstand severe weather

more like this

star this property answer text As with all policies, the government keeps its policy towards cryptocurrencies under review. For example, Government has recently published its National Risk Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, which included an examination of the risks associated with cryptocurrencies. The government is currently negotiating amendments to the European Anti-Money Laundering Directive which will extend regulation to virtual currency exchange platforms and custodian wallet providers. These amendments will enable competent authorities to ensure these firms are mitigating the risks regarding money laundering and terrorist financing. We expect these negotiations to conclude at EU level by early 2018, with a year for Member States to then implement the Directive. more like this
