The number of households in temporary accommodation is well below the peak over a decade ago, in 2005.</p><p>But temporary accommodation is an intermediate measure. This government changed the law to allow councils to place families in decent and affordable private rented homes. This means homeless households do not have to wait as long for settled accommodation, spending less time in temporary accommodation.</p><p>We have also replaced DWP’s Temporary Accommodation Management Fee with a Flexible Homelessness Support Grant which local authorities can use more strategically to prevent and tackle homelessness. This amounts to £402m over the two years from 2017/18.</p><p>This government is implementing the most ambitious legislative reform in decades, the Homelessness Reduction Act, which significantly reforms England’s homelessness legislation, ensuring that more people get the help they need earlier to prevent them from becoming homeless in the first place.</p><p>The Act places duties on local authorities to intervene at earlier stages to prevent homelessness in their areas. Agencies have strong powers for tackling anti-social behaviour through the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act, requiring landlords to deal with nuisance.</p><p>Residents affected can request from their Local Authority an Anti-Social Behaviour Case Review - also called Community Trigger – in which they can insist on a multi-agency review of their case if they have reported the problem three times in the past six months and yet the problem has not yet been resolved</p><p>Any incidence of abuse or violence should be reported to the police. That letter encouraged providers to consider the retrofitting of sprinklers in older residential tower blocks. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/08/2017 answer text <p>The Government responded to the Grenfell Tower fire by setting up an independent panel of experts, who established that the immediate priority was to identify the scale of use of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) type cladding on buildings over 18 metres. Following further advice from the Independent Expert Advisory Panel, the Government commissioned the Building Research Establishment to test different wall cladding systems using three common types of ACM panelling with two commonly used types of insulation. The results will provide further evidence of how some commonly used wall systems using ACM perform in a fire. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2017 answer text <p>Domestic abuse is a devastating crime and we are determined to ensure that women, regardless of their circumstances, should receive the support they need when they need it.</p><p>Our Manifesto included a commitment to ensure that those who have a lifetime tenancy and flee domestic violence are able to secure a new lifetime tenancy automatically. We are currently working on how we can deliver this, and an announcement will be made in due course.</p><p>We have already acted to put measures in place to support victims of domestic abuse. These include the securing of a dedicated fund totalling £40 million over four years (2016 - 2020), building on the £13.5 million provided between 2014 and 2016. The funding will provide provision for refuges and other specialist accommodation-based services to support victims of domestic abuse and service reform.
