star this property answer text <p>HMRC will investigate any allegations of wrongdoing brought to its attention. In the Autumn Budget 2017, the government confirmed 18 further measures and additional investment in HMRC to tackle avoidance, evasion, and non-compliance.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC has generated over £160 billion of additional yield since 2010 from tackling avoidance, evasion and non-compliance. There are currently 26,000 people working in the Customer Compliance Group tackling all forms of non-compliance – ranging from individuals operating in the hidden economy, through to detailed investigation of offshore structures and scrutinising the tax affairs of the largest multi-national companies.</p><p> </p><p>The Joint Financial Analysis Centre (JFAC) established in the wake of the Panama Papers brings together data and intelligence from across Government and has developed into a national capability underpinning the Government’s ambitions to fight complex tax and economic crime, at home and overseas.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government has not made an assessment. Contracts for Difference (CfDs) and other derivative products are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The FCA have expressed concerns about the distribution of CfDs to retail clients, and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) have recently announced that they are considering imposing restrictions on these CfDs. As the independent regulator, the FCA have indicated that they are supportive of these proposals. As ESMA’s powers are temporary, the FCA are considering appropriate permanent product intervention measures, which the FCA indicated would take in to account any prospective ESMA measures. The FCA continually reviews all financial products, including derivative products, to assess the risks to investor protection.</p> more like this

The government has legislated to transfer responsibility for the regulation of binary options from the Gambling Commission to the Financial Conduct Authority from 3 January 2018. The FCA recently warned investors about the risks of investing in binary options. The European Securities and Markets Authority have recently announced that they are considering measures to prohibit the marketing, distribution or sale of binary options to retail clients in the EU to address the significant risks to investors associated with this product. As the independent regulator, the FCA have indicated that they are supportive of ESMA’s proposals.</p> more like this
