star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to making the aspiration of homeownership a reality for as many households as possible and consequently operates a range of schemes that aim to increase the supply of low-deposit mortgages for credit-worthy households, including first-time buyers, increase the availability of new housing, and stimulate economic growth. These include the Mortgage Guarantee Scheme, which is open until the end of June 2025. We also help first-time buyers to save for a deposit through the Lifetime ISA and Help to Buy: ISA.</p><p>Over 876,000 households have been helped to purchase a home since spring 2010 through government-backed schemes.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>If a buyer or seller pulls out of a transaction once contracts have been exchanged, they are often already legally obliged to pay compensation to the other party. The amount of compensation will depend upon the individual contract, but it is intended to go towards costs accrued in the transaction, such as legal costs and search fees. Home buyers and sellers are also able to voluntarily enter into reservation agreements in advance of exchange, which can provide protection when property transactions fall through.</p> more like this

We will ensure home ownership is within the reach of many more people.</p><p>The Government is committed to increase first-time buyer numbers in all regions, and will do so by looking at all of the factors that influence ownership levels, including housing supply and the availability of low deposit mortgages. <br> <br>We will also explore further options to limit the competition first-time buyers face. This means looking at all of the options available to government to limit the factors which are pricing out local people, seeking to learn from international comparators.</p><p>This Government runs a range of schemes to help people into home ownership such as First Homes, mortgage guarantee scheme, Help to Buy: Equity Loan, Shared Ownership and Lifetime ISA.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HMRC publishes monthly data on UK Residential Property transactions and their latest seasonally adjusted data is available up to August 2021.</p><p>This data shows that in the 19 months since the UK left the EU there have been 1,996,090 transactions and this compares with 1,871,840 transactions in the 19 month period prior to leaving the EU. <br> <br>The volume of property transactions is influenced by a large range of factors and differences should not be attributed to any single factor. For example, the figures for the period after leaving the EU will include the impact of Covid restrictions and temporary changes to Stamp Duty rates.</p> more like this
