Friend the Prime Minister set out in her Florence speech, we want to continue working together with the EU to promote the long-term economic development of our continent. This includes continuing to take part in those specific policies and programmes which are greatly to the UK and the EU’s joint advantage, such as those that promote science, education and culture – and those that promote our mutual security.</p><p> </p><p>In our Future Partnership Paper, “Collaboration on Science and Innovation”, we have made clear that the UK will seek an ambitious science and innovation agreement with the EU. The UK would like to work with the EU on designing this agreement, and would welcome a full and open discussion about all of the options for continued collaboration, including options for UK participation in EU and Euratom programmes, agencies and other bodies.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to ensuring that the UK continues to lead the world in fusion research. We have taken action to secure the future of the Joint European Torus (JET) facility by guaranteeing the UK’s share of JET costs until the end of 2020. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/11/2017 answer text <p>Through our Industrial Strategy, we will strengthen the growth of markets for clean technologies in the UK, to support the development of the UK supply chains that will create jobs and drive future exports. We will focus on building long-term competitive advantage, to maximise the UK’s share of global markets as they are transformed by the shift to clean growth.</p><p>We introduced Supply Chain Plans as part of the Contract For Difference allocation round requirements for low carbon electricity projects of 300MW generating capacity or more. The introduction of Supply Chain Plans has helped drive behavioural change with developers, increasing competition, identifying barriers to entry and enabling more companies to compete, including UK companies. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2017 answer text <p>The Nuclear Skills Strategy Group (NSSG) conducts, as part of its activities, a labour market intelligence gathering exercise across the sector to produce an annual Nuclear Workforce Assessment (NWA), which identifies the sector’s demand requirements for the next 20 years. The latest NWA was published in July and sets out the inflow rate and types of skills required to inform employers in their recruitment practices. The NSSG also uses this information to update its action plan and ensure the right interventions are put in place for the sector to have access to the skills it needs. One of the strategic actions is to simplify the entry process by reviewing perceived barriers to entry to the sector, including security clearance processes, assumptions around the time to achieve competence and the requirement for intensive induction training before joining. This work is being led by the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN), on behalf of the NSSG, and builds on NSAN’s existing expertise, such as their Triple Bar suite which aims to streamline the process to work on a nuclear site.
