It is important that all sides conduct thorough and conclusive investigations into incidents where it is alleged that IHL has been breached. The Saudi Arabian Government has their own internal procedures for investigations. At a press conference on 31 January they announced more detail of how they investigate such incidents. The Saudi led Coalition Joint Investigations Assessment Team announced the outcome of 8 investigations on 4 August.
more like this

star this property answer text
The situation in Burundi remains grave, despite claims by the Burundian Government that it has normalised. The overall security situation has improved since its low point in December 2015, with a reduction in night-time police raids and attacks by the opposition. However, this has been replaced by increased, systematic government oppression. There is compelling evidence from a range of local and international monitors, including the United Nations, that extrajudicial killings, disappearances, torture and arbitrary arrests continue.

In July 2016 the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2303, which authorised a deployment of 228 UN police to Burundi to monitor and report on human rights abuses. Implementation of the resolution has so far been hindered by the Burundian regime.
more like this

All export licence applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria, taking account of all relevant factors at the time of the application. The key test for our continued arms exports to Saudi Arabia in relation to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is whether there is a clear risk that those items might be used in a serious violation of IHL. The situation is kept under careful and continual review.
more like this

The UK is also providing humanitarian support to people affected by the conflict, including supplies and technical support to medical centres, assistance to those who have been forced to flee their homes, and support to migrants held in detention. A £1.5m project has been agreed with consortium lead Danish Refugee Council under the Women and Girls Protection Fund, which aims to protect 40,000 vulnerable women migrants from trafficking, forced labour and sexual violence through improved shelters, psychosocial support and awareness raising among migrants and host communities of the heightened risks and fundamental rights of migrating women.
