star this property answer text In July 2021, the National Health Service announced a further £20 million for Cancer Alliances to accelerate cancer diagnoses and enable management of high referral volumes. Cancer Alliances have been asked to ensure that wherever possible reconstructive surgery takes place, in particular for women who have undergone breast surgery previously during the pandemic. more like this

star this property answer text <p>The 555 subpostmasters involved in the Group Litigation Order (GLO) agreed a settlement of £42.75m plus costs. My officials have recently met their representatives to understand the harms which they have experienced.</p><p> </p><p>Postmasters who have had their Horizon-related conviction overturned are eligible for interim compensation payments of up to £100k. This includes postmasters with quashed convictions who were also part of the GLO.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 29 September 2020, BEIS formally launched the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry which will establish a clear account of the implementation and failings of Horizon over its lifetime, as well as ensuring lessons are learnt so that a similar situation will not be repeated in the future.</p><p> </p><p>The Post Office’s Chief Executive is leading a programme of improvements to overhaul the culture, practices and operating procedures throughout every part of its business. The Government continues to closely monitor delivery of these improvements. Ministers and officials are holding the Post Office to account for taking on board the lessons learned through the litigation and will want to see clear evidence that real change has taken place.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In London, the national ‘Help us to Help You’ campaigns have been promoted and included local initiatives, which has increased number of referrals. Mutual aid is being provided between providers in London, initially within local clinical commissioning group area and with other London providers where this is not available. This allows faster access to first outpatient appointments with clinical assessment where waiting times are shorter.</p><p>Due to the nature of treatments for breast cancer where surgery is often a day case, this pathway has continued more consistently. Those on breast cancer pathways waiting longer than 62 days currently represent approximately 10% of all pathways and continues to decrease.</p><p>Levels of first treatments remain high, with 130 more breast cancers treated through the urgent general practitioner route compared to pre-pandemic levels and we anticipate that some patients will have been referred via screening.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In July 2021 the Department commissioned Health Education England (HEE) to work with partners to renew the strategic framework for the workforce. This will include the National Health Service workforce and regulated professionals in the social care workforce to ensure we have the appropriate numbers of staff with the right skills, values and behaviours to deliver high quality services and standards of care. The outcomes will be published in 2022.</p><p>In addition, the Department has recently commissioned NHS England to develop a workforce strategy following HEE’s strategic framework, including long term projections. Its conclusions will be set out in due course.</p> more like this

NHS England and NHS Improvement have advised that breast screening offices are providing extra screening sessions and utilising open invitations to fully optimise available appointments.
