This is in response to safety concerns in the Stoke Rochford area. The Department is currently assessing the final business case and Ministers hope to announce a decision on the funding shortly.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Highways England is also considering the issues in the Lincoln area in its route strategies. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2017 answer text <p>The Department does not hold any information about whether drivers of lorries or any other vehicles were using or had access to satellite navigation systems when they were involved in an incident or accident.</p><p> </p><p>Satellite navigation systems are a useful driving aid, but they are not a replacement for lorry drivers observing road signs, the wider road environment and using their training effectively.</p><p>The Department has invested £3 million in working with Ordnance Survey on a new digital map of the road network. This will make it easier for drivers to navigate Britain's roads. Compliance rates continue to run at about 95 per cent in Great Britain. My Department has been engaged in discussions with the European Commission since the early stages of development of the levy. They plan to carry out permanent surface repairs between junctions 10 and 11 in mid-May 2016. These will be hot patch repairs, which are just as effective as permanent resurfacing and are durable enough to last until the next resurfacing scheme.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England inspects the M1 between junctions 10 and 11 twice weekly, with the latest safety inspection completed on Wednesday 13 April.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England will continue to ensure that the M1 between junctions 10 and 11 remains safe and serviceable. This considers the extent to which roadworks arrangements and adjacent schemes would minimise average journey times, whilst providing the safest environment for both road workers and the travelling public.</p><p>Highways England are delivering a large five year programme of improvements which adds much needed capacity to some of the most congested parts of the strategic road network to support economic growth. Where possible, this is combined with planned maintenance which is cost effective and reduces the need for further work to be carried out once construction has been completed.
