star this property answer text <p>&quot;A Better Defence Estate&quot; is a military-led review. All military and civilian personnel at sites identified for closure were informed at the time of the announcement through their chain of command. Staff will continue to be kept up to date, through the chain of command, on plans and developments for their sites.</p><p> </p><p>Military personnel currently based at sites identified for closure will be relocated with their unit or re-assigned in accordance with existing career management procedures. As much notice as possible will be provided.</p><p> </p><p>Civilian staff will be expected to honour the mobility obligations if their post is being relocated. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Through the Government’s National Cyber Security Programme, my Department is delivering an ambitious set of initiatives to support the growth of and investment in cyber security companies across the United Kingdom, including those from Northern Ireland. In particular, we provide opportunities for early stage companies from across the UK to be represented at selected events where they can showcase their technologies and expertise in order to secure investment. We are also funding the delivery of two cyber innovation centres which are open to companies from across the UK.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">We are also funding the delivery of ‘Hut Zero’, an accelerator programme for individuals with cyber security ideas , and ‘Cyber 101’ business training ‘bootcamps’ for early stage companies, some of which are being delivered in Northern Ireland. I am particularly delighted that Queen’s University Belfast’s Centre for Secure Information Technology is playing a pivotal role in the delivery of both of those initiatives.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">DCMS is committed to offering all applicants equality of opportunity to ensure that we attract and retain candidates with the most talent and potential. To this end, the DCMS recruitment process does not require applicants to declare unspent criminal convictions at the initial recruitment stage. Applicants are asked to declare unspent criminal convictions as part of basic employment checks when a provisional offer of employment has been made. Decisions concerning appointment to a post where an individual has a conviction history are made on a case-by-case basis.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"><strong> </strong></ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The department does not retain details centrally that would allow us to identify employees with unspent convictions so the information requested could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.</ins></p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>As a pre-qualification activity in the procurement process, potential contractors tendering for contracts with the House Service are asked to confirm whether they have breached labour law obligations, including the Employment Relations Act 1999 (Blacklists) Regulations 2010 and the Modern Slavery Act 2015, in the previous three years. Where this turns out to be the case, they are asked to explain what measures have been taken and provide evidence as appropriate to demonstrate the reliability of the organisation despite the existence of a relevant ground for exclusion. If the response is not satisfactory, the House Service has the right to exclude the organisation from the tendering process at its discretion.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As at 31<sup>st</sup> March 2017, the teams had approximately 1040 full time equivalent staff engaged in customer compliance activity, of which roughly 522 were employed in the High Net Worth Unit and 518 in the Affluent Unit.</p><p> </p><p>Their roles focus on promoting tax compliance and tackling non-compliance amongst the wealthy population, including, where evidence is found, investigating potential tax evasion. The team works closely with Counter Avoidance and the Fraud Investigation Service to ensure HMRC effectively tackle avoidance and evasion within this customer segment. star this property answer text <p>As at October 2017, DWP employs 6,726 staff who are involved in work relating to benefit fraud. Of these, 2,194 staff are directly involved in the investigation of Benefit Fraud including Criminal, Fraud, Compliance and Local Service investigations. The Full Time Equivalents (FTE) of these figures, based on a 37 hour working week, are 4,045.3 FTE and 1,928.1 FTE respectively.</p><p>The latest National Statistics on Fraud and Error in the Benefit System from May 2017 estimate benefit fraud at 1.2% (£2.0 billion) of total benefit expenditure, although not all benefit overpayments are lost to the public purse as the Department can recover them. In 2016/17, DWP recovered £1.1 billion of overpayments. There are no plans to make a statement at the current time.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As of May 2017, there were 2,080 households in Glasgow East constituency who had a deduction made from their Housing Benefit due to the removal of the spare room subsidy. Of these, there were 1,540 where the claimant or partner was receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).</p><p> </p><p>The Government has provided easements to allow an additional bedroom for couples and children who are unable to share a bedroom due to their disability, or where a non-resident overnight carer (or group of carers) is required for an adult, child or non-dependant adult.</p><p> </p><p>From 2011 the Government has provided around £900 million to date to local authorities to help support vulnerable people affected by different welfare reforms. This includes £25 million per year to support disabled people living in significantly adapted accommodation, including any adaptations made for disabled children.</p> more like this
