The Army Basing programme are set to conclude the construction work on Catterick Garrison in early 2019. This work is on time and to budget.</p><p>Furthermore, additional investment in Catterick will be forthcoming through the Defence Estate Optimisation Programme as a result of the Better Defence Estate Strategy. We are continually working on improvements to our Armed Forces' capabilities against a wide range of Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. The MOD's Modernising Defence Programme (MDP) will ensure that Defence and the Armed Forces are configured and equipped to address evolving threats, including from CBRN, that we and our allies face. These strikes were conducted following a rigorous scrutiny and approval process in conjunction with scientific analysis by DSTL and others. In line with International Humanitarian Law, the UK strives to protect civilians from the effects of military action. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/02/2018 answer text <p>The use of military force, regardless of whether it is delivered by manned or unmanned aircraft or any other military equipment, is governed by applicable UK and International Law. The UK Manual of the Law of Armed Conflict sets out UK practice and is available at the following internet address: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/jsp-383-the-joint-service-manual-of-the-law-of-armed-conflict-2004-edition. As the Government has stated previously there is no separate policy or legal guidance on the use of force outside of an armed conflict. Rather it has a policy to protect the UK and its citizens against both armed attacks and imminent threats of armed attack. In implementing this policy it may draw on a wide range of options including, in extremis, the use of lethal force. The UK, as part of the Global Coalition, recognises the ongoing threat posed by Daesh, and we have pledged to work to counter its re-emergence, working alongside the Iraqi Government. As a demonstration of our commitment, the Prime Minister announced during her visit to Iraq in November 2017 that the UK will invest £10 million to build Iraq's counter-terrorist capability.
