star this property answer text <p>On 17<sup>th</sup> April this year, the Advocate General for Scotland and I referred the UK Withdrawal from the European Union (Legal Continuity) (Scotland) Bill to the Supreme Court for a decision on whether the Bill would be within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament.</p><p> </p><p>The hearing is due to take place in July 2018 and we are in the process of agreeing a timetable for filing written cases with the Scottish Government in accordance with directions from the Supreme Court.</p><p> </p> more like this

I have today written to the Prime Minister about an exchange of letters between the Prime Minister and the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. star this property answer text <p>An Act of Parliament is required before any UK-wide referendum can be held. It is for Parliament to debate and agree the terms under which any referendum would take place, including provisions for setting the date, franchise and the question that would appear on the ballot paper. Processes to hold any referendum must, in addition, incorporate adequate time to prepare for the poll and a minimum campaigning period. The Electoral Commission recommends that legislation relating to a poll should be clear at least six months before it is required to be implemented or complied with.</p><p>A majority of the electorate voted to leave the EU in June 2016. The British people made their choice and they want their Government to deliver on that choice. <em> </em>It is a matter of Government policy that there will not be a second referendum on our exit from the EU<em>.</em></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government takes the security and integrity of our democratic processes extremely seriously but has not seen evidence of any successful interference in the EU Referendum by any foreign government.</p><p> </p><p>Political parties and referendum campaigners can only accept donations from “permissible donors” which includes individuals on the electoral roll, companies registered in and conducting business in the UK and a number of other UK-registered bodies. Accepting a donation that is not permissible is a criminal offence. The Electoral Commission has powers to fine parties or campaigners who accept impermissible donations. The Government will continue to work to strengthen our democratic processes.</p><p> </p><p>We remain vigilant against attempts to erode trust in our democratic processes and institutions and will defend the UK from all forms of malign foreign state interference.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We have developed a cross-departmental public information campaign to inform citizens and businesses about how leaving the EU might affect them, and advise on the steps they may need to take to prepare for EU Exit.</p><p>Over the coming weeks, we will be using a range of channels to direct UK citizens, businesses, EU citizens living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU to a dedicated area on GOV.UK.</p><p>From the website, these different audiences will be able to view the latest authoritative information and guidance on any aspect of EU Exit relevant to them and find out what steps they may need to take to be prepared for the UK’s departure on 29th March.</p><p>We have already started to promote the first phase of our public information campaign on radio and through the Government’s own social media channels.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
