answer text <p>Persons convicted of animal cruelty or animal abuse are already captured on the Police National Computer (PNC). If anyone has concerns about another individual, they can approach the police who can check their records on the PNC. The police may then take the most appropriate action. In addition, there are currently arrangements in place between the police and the RSPCA.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Animal Welfare Act 2006 already allows courts to make a disqualification order in respect of someone who has been found guilty of causing any unnecessary suffering to an animal. It is for the courts to decide whether to make such an order and, if so, for how long based on the individual circumstances of the case. If a court decides not to impose such an order, it must give its reasons in open court. I consider, therefore, that the courts have the necessary powers to impose appropriate penalties in relation to acts of animal cruelty</p> more like this

answer text <p>Convictions for offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 are recorded on the Police National Computer and are not held on a public register. The Government would be concerned about the level of access to a public register, and Data Protection Act requirements would also apply. However, police forces are exploring how access to information relating to people banned from keeping animals might be improved for local authorities and other bodies with an enforcement role.</p> more like this
