	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2019 answer text <p>Membership data from the NHS Pension Scheme shows the number of hospital doctors and general practitioners (GPs) claiming their pension earlier than their normal pension age.</p><p>Whilst the scheme does not require individuals to give reasons for claiming their pension, the rise in voluntary early retirement rates coincides with reductions in pension tax allowances over the same period. The annual and lifetime allowances limit the amount by which an individual can grow their pension tax-free each year and in total. There is emerging evidence that pension tax may be a factor in doctors deciding to retire early or limit their National Health Service commitments. In response to the review of urgent treatment services in the National Health Service (published in 2015), patients and the public said that they felt confused by the mix of walk-in centres, minor injuries units and urgent care centres, in addition to numerous general practitioner health centres and surgeries offering varied levels of core and extended service.</p><p> </p><p>The ‘Next Steps on the NHS Five Year Forward View’ set out plans for the roll-out of urgent treatment centres. The Injury Benefits Scheme covers NHS workers with injuries or diseases contracted through their employment before 31 March 2013.</p><p>The NHS Business Services Authority will process Injury Benefits applications received up to and including 30 March 2018 but only in respect of injuries or diseases occurring on or before 30 March 2013.
