star this property answer text <p>UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) has overall responsibility for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into the UK. For investors with an interest in London it shares leads with London &amp; Partners (London’s promotional organisation) to land those investors here in what is a very competitive international market for FDI.</p><br /><p>The Mayor of London is also responsible for attracting FDI into London and as such London &amp; Partners also generates its own leads.</p><br /><p>As part of its ‘UK First’ approach to attracting inward investment, UKTI actively supports these efforts and those of London Councils, including those that cover the Lower Lea Valley.</p><br /> <br /> more like this

It gives local partners a key advisory role. star this property answer text <p>This is a matter for UCAS, (University and Colleges Admissions Service) as a body formed by the universities themselves independent from the Government. UCAS have said that the new service will provide extra choice for students and UCAS' rigorous scrutiny of European Universities applying to use the service will ensure they demonstrate that they meet equivalent standards to those in the UK. Many home students already choose to study abroad by applying directly to particular universities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Data from UCAS for 2014 showed that applications to higher education in England are at an all-time high. Record numbers of students were accepted for entry: for the first time ever over half a million applicants were placed in higher education. star this property answer text <p>A total of £1.25bn has been secured by the five LEPs (Local Enterprise Partnerships) in the North West – Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and Warrington, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria – from the Government’s Local Growth Fund. As part of this, Liverpool City Region secured £232.2 million in July 2014 and a further £31.6 million through the expansion to Growth Deals in January 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The North West Fund is an ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Financial Engineering Instrument which can invest £155 million into SMEs across the North West, including Merseyside, until 31<sup>st</sup> December 2015. 50% of the fund is public sector resources coming from the ERDF programme (£77.5 million) and 50% from the private sector (a further £77.5 million). This will provide loan and equity investments to SMEs in the North West.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As of December 2014 the fund had invested £111.18 million in capital funding across the North West, of which £36.8 million had been invested to support SMEs in Merseyside. There is sufficient residual funding within the North West Fund to support the capital investment in Merseyside which has already been identified by local partners for the remainder of 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department is currently working with LEPs to develop the 2014-20 ERDF Programme; we anticipate the Operational Programme will receive approval by the European Commission in June 2015. star this property answer text <p>A firm of solicitors has asked BIS how the on-line calculator calculates the period of continuous employment which an employee must complete to qualify for shared parental leave. The calculator is accessed through GOV.UK and is designed to help parents and prospective parents work out their entitlements. We believe that the calculator delivers the right answer for shared parental leave.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As a result of this query we are now looking at how the calculator calculates the period of continuous employment for entitlement for other forms of statutory leave and also for statutory pay. We are doing this to verify that all these calculations are correct. We will take steps to address any discrepancies we find.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
