The Department for International Development is providing funding of £89.8m over five years (2011/12-2015/16) to BBC Media Action. Trusts are free to choose, but in doing so they have important responsibilities. Paragraph 1.5.11 of the Handbook explains that trusts must exercise their discretion reasonably and in a way that commands broad public support. Paragraph 1.5.21 explains that the accounting officer is personally accountable for regularity, propriety and value for money in the trust’s financial conduct. In 2014, the UK is the third largest bilateral humanitarian donor to CAR after the USA (£87 million) and the EU (£39 million). However, the scheme administrator for the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) holds data on the number of individuals who have participated in the scheme in the past but are now deferred (have ceased to be in pensionable service but have not yet accessed benefits).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>While the TPS data includes teachers whose last recorded service was in a publicly funded school in England, it also covers those whose last service was in Wales or in other establishments covered by the Scheme (for example further and higher education establishments).
