However, counselling services should be available as part of the wider mental health provision to support sexually abused children. This Government is committed to improving children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing as a whole, which will also benefit children and young people who have been victims of sexual abuse.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>National Health Service funding for mental health services increased by £300 million last year. Historically, treatment targets have only been attached to physical health – a problem the Government is correcting with £1.25 billion announced in the last Budget. This will direct funding to mental health services and will ensure people, including those whose mental health has been affected through sexual abuse, get the treatment they need when they need it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Our investment to date in the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme has made a choice of psychological therapies available for those who need them in all parts of England reflecting the objective in the Government’s Mandate to NHS England to provide access to therapies for around 900,000 people per year by 2015, with a recovery rate of 50%. IAPT include therapies for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in response to sexual abuse as well as therapies for depression and anxiety disorders which may result from the traumatic of the abuse.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In March 2015, ‘Tackling Child Sexual Exploitation’ published in March 2015, set out cross-Government actions to prevent child sexual exploitation or, where it has happened, ensure victims and survivors get the support they need. The Department and its Arms Length Bodies are taking forward the health related recommendations, which focus on improving data on prevalence so that commissioners can develop the local service response to meet local needs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence issued guidelines on ‘Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): The management of PTSD in adults and children in primary and secondary care’ issued in March 2005, reviewed in December 2011, and ‘Depression in adults: The treatment and management of depression in adults’, published in October 2009. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/12/2023 answer text <p>NHS England has committed £20 million between 2022 and 2025 to fund the expansion of HIV opt-out testing in accident and emergency (A&amp;E) departments in areas with extremely high HIV prevalence. To further maximise the opportunity afforded by the funding for HIV opt-out testing, NHS England decided to implement a combined blood borne viruses (BBV) approach to include Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C testing alongside HIV. The NHS England London region took a decision to include all A&amp;E departments in London the project, some of which were high HIV prevalence areas.</p><p>Data from NHS England indicates that this BBV opt-out testing initiative has helped find more than 900 people unaware they are living with HIV, or not accessing HIV care and over 2500 people living with, or not accessing care for Hepatitis B and over 1000 people living with or not accessing care for Hepatitis C during the first 18 months of the programme.</p><p>On 9 November 2023, the UK Health Security Agency published an evaluation of the first year of the BBV opt-out testing in A&amp;E departments in local areas with extremely high HIV prevalence. Findings show that the programme has made a significant contribution to BBV testing in England with more than half the number of tests done in the programme compared to BBV tests in other settings.</p><p>After careful consideration of the available evidence, the Government has now also committed £20 million to fund new research, commissioned through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), that will involve an expansion and evaluation of BBV opt out testing in a further 47 emergency departments, in high prevalence HIV areas across England (2 or more HIV cases per 1,000 residents). 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2018 answer text <p>Over 900,000 people now access Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services each year, and the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health includes our commitment to expand services further to see a further one million more people treated for mental health problems every year by 2020. Although problem gambling is not listed amongst the provisional diagnosis categories that IAPT treats, IAPT practitioners would be able to treat common mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety which may affect people with gambling problems.</p><p> </p><p>A new version of the IAPT dataset is being developed and it is intended that gambling problems will be recorded in the revised dataset. This would enable us to better assess the impact of IAPT services on people with gambling problems.</p><p> </p><p>People who experience problems with gambling can access services in primary care and secondary care including specialised mental health and addiction services. There are a range of services available details of which can be found on the NHS Choices website. The Government believes that drugs and treatments that are established as clinically and cost effective should be available to patients. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published technology appraisal guidance on Lucentis (ranibizumab) and Macugen (pegaptanib) for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (TA155) that recommends Lucentis as a clinically and cost effective use of National Health Service resources for the treatment of patients with wet age-related macular degeneration meeting specific clinical criteria.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Under Regulation 7, commissioners are legally required to make funding available so that clinicians can prescribe treatments recommended in NICE technology appraisal guidance to patients. This does not prevent commissioners from supporting the use of additional treatment options if they believe they would be of benefit to their local population.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Avastin (bevacizumab) is not licensed for use in the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration.
